Several case-changing add-ons on here, but some of them only work for text in input boxes, many had not been updated in several years, and others have some bad reviews or no reviews, so I went with this one. Works great to make SCREAMING MLS LISTINGS more readable, etc. I agree with the other reviewer who said a keyboard shortcut would save a lot of time. Also, with regards to sentence-casing, along with the examples other reviewers gave of that being done erroneously, the extension doesn't recognize acronyms with periods as not being the end of a sentence. For instance, "u.c.i. is a great school for computer science" will be sentence-cased to "U.C.I. Is a...". Since this is the only extension not limited to input boxes that's been updated recently, hopefully the author will make the sentence-casing a little smarter.
One other very minor note is that the metadata for this add-on on addons.mozilla.org is a little odd -- on the page for the extension itself, it's called "Case Change Tool", but in add-ons search results it's just called "Case Change", which is confusing because there's another add-on called "Change Case". The metadata should be fixed so it says "Case Change Tool" in the search results too.
This addon works as expected. and it works immediately with no need to re-start Firefox after install (a nice feature). Just highlight the text you want to change, right-click, select "Case Change" from the Context menu, then select which type of case change you want. Works in popped-out Gmail Compose and Reply windows, too, which some of the other Case Change add-ons don't work in.
I found this for a friend of mine who doesn't touch-type either.
FASCINATING that it works on 'protected' web text as well.
I would really like the ability to S̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ selected text (perhaps \\ as well).
WTFM! (Write...) I know it's terribly tedious, but PLeAsE, just a little documentation? Rather than having us guess and tax our ESP abilities?
It's very easy. Here: "Highlight text, right-click, select type of change from CaseChange sub-menu (hover), click. Works on text outside text-boxes too, by changing page source."
I don't know if it's possible to do effective italicisation/embolding/underlining by this route. I use hotkeys for those.
I like Sarah Jade's suggestion to have single-letter selection from the change-case sub-menu (U, L, S etc.. Shift key would be cute).
Next I nede something to corrrect my typos. But that would be bloat.
When you select a block of text in an editable field and right-click on it, The Case Change Tool appears at the bottom of the browser context menu and expands to the various case changing options in a sub-menu.
Very handy add-on. The fact that it can convert any text on a page - not just inside text boxes - is really helpful. I find myself using it more than I expected I would. There's a tiny bug where it doesn't keep exactly the same formatting as the original, but that isn't a big deal.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that it could really use a keyboard shortcut to toggle between cases or switch to a favourite. That would make it an even more powerful tool. If nothing else, it would at least be nice to be able to change the order in which the options are displayed in the context menu so a favourite could be set at the top for quicker access.
WOW! I was looking for such addon for ages!
THANK you so much for creating this Amazing Addon!! You are the Best!! ★★★★★
Great add-on, it saves time on typing.
Using this add-on for typing long emails has saved me from breaking the flow of typing.
Sentence, "casing does not recognize quotation marks."
Nor the singular i.
It is broken by 'menu editor add-on' as far as I can tell.
