Wonderful for Keywords Noté 5 sur 5 étoiles
I installed this to make it easier to use Firefox's keywords. E.g. I have it set up so I can type "IM Sigourney Weaver" in the address bar and the keyword "IM" tells Firefox to search IMDB. I have keywords to search Amazon, several dictionaries, Google Images, etc. They work great but they can be a pain to set up. And for some sites, I just never could figure out the syntax or wildcards or regexes or whatever. Metacritic was one such site.
So I installed this Add to Search Bar extension. Then I went to Metacritic.com and right-clicked in the search field and selected "Add a Keyword for this Search". I chose "M" as my Keyword and I was done. Now I just type, for example, "M The Dark Knight" in my address bar and am instantly taken to the results of a Metacritic search where I can click on either of the two movies, a bunch of video games, etc., depending on what product I'm looking for a review of. Using the same technique, I went to the search pages for Movies, TV, and Games and added keywords "MM", "MT", and "MG" to search Metacritic within those genres only. Easy peasy. A task I hadn't been able to accomplish by hand (and that would have taken several minutes by hand anyway) was done in seconds.
Curious, I went into my Bookmarks to examine how Add to Search Bar had set up these keywords. What syntax had it used that had eluded me? Answer: I have no freaking idea. The four bookmarks with those four keywords all looked identical. Yet they run four different searches. How did Add to Search Bar make this happen? I don't know. But it did, my friend. It did.
