Evidence Capsule creates a local record only when you press Capture visible tab. Each record holds the visible screenshot, the tab URL and title, the local device timestamp, and a SHA-256 hash covering those fields. Browse up to 20 records in the extension popup, export a portable JSON file, delete a local record, or verify an exported JSON file against its recorded hash. The hash detects changes to the exported contents; it is not legal certification or an independent timestamp. Captures can contain sensitive page material or URL parameters, so review exports before sharing them. The extension does not capture automatically, upload records, or read other tabs in the background.
