Convert an existing Google Docs document to a template with "Use Template" button

With a https://docs.google.com/document/d/xxxx URL open, click on the addon logo, and a new tab will open with the "Use Template" button.

Unfortunately, you can't create a custom template unless you have a paid Workspace business account. However, you can make a template by creating a new document and typing in what you want. Then give the document a title (for example, "Letter Template"), making sure to put the word Template at the end. Then click in the URL bar and delete /edit (make sure to include the slash) at the end of the URL. Replace it with /template/preview (again, make sure to include the slashes). Then refresh/reload the page. You should now see a screen with a blue button that reads: "Use Template." Bookmark the page and whenever you want to use it, open the page and click "Use Template."
