Really very useful add-on. I am waiting for the update to the latest version of Thunderbirb. Update which I hope will be released soon. Thank you so much.

Yes, Jonathan, I highly commend you for taking over the development of this add-on and thank your predecessor for developing it! I would be grateful if this add-on could be adapted to work with the newer version of Thunderbird. If I would have known this was going to be an issue, I would have turned off Thunderbird's automatic update feature. I have this feature disabled now to prevent any future incompatibility problems! This is a super-handy add-on that makes up for shortcomings in Thunderbird. I have discovered over time that standard Thunder is able to flag messages as "replied" with some email services (like gmail), but not with all mail servers, which is the situation with one of the mail services I use. For some reason, this function in the standard Thunderbird does not work consistently with some mail servers. Upgrading the add-on would be very beneficial for users like me - I like having the ability to quickly scan my mail to confirm that I have replied to important emails.

Hello! Any chance that the update is going to happen soon?
We're considering downgrading Thunderbird, because of this plugin not working.

I have used this add-on for years and miss having it in the latest version of TB. My primary use was with a shared email account checked by other users. We would use it as a way to indicate to the other users an email has been dealt with by marking it as "replied" or "forwarded".

I periodically check for a new version that will work with TB 78 and hope one is still being worked on.

Yes, we're working on it. More news soon, I hope.

Thanks for reviving this plugin.
And also thanks to Christian Eyrich for creating it of course!!!
TB should already have had this build-in.

I was searching for something like this for a long long time.
Dunno why it never popped up in searches (though, I never thought of using the keyword 'toggle').

Anyways,

The code in this version (0.5.1) has not really changed compared to the original version made by Christian Eyrich, except for three lines where a 'for in' statement is replaced with a 'for of' statement. Other than that, and the house-holding stuff of course, everything else is just a copy-paste.

'for of' is better and a bit safer, but other than that has no effect at all on upwards compatibilty I think? Makes me wonder if the original version is actually incompatible, or if it would be just a matter of updating the compatibility flags to include later clients.

The older versions of Thunderbird don't support the new construct. The newer versions of Thunderbird don't support the old construct. That's the whole reason why I had to fork this add-on and create the new version. The compatibility ranges on this incarnation of the add-on are correct and necessary.
Thunderbird 20 was released four and a half years ago. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect users to be running a version of Thunderbird less than four and a half years old, especially since the older versions are unsupported and have unpatched security holes in them.
P.S. Thanks for the translation, I've just released version 0.5.2 with it added.

My only criticism is that, after installation, the previous version is neither removed nor disabled. That should either be done automatically or new users should be advised to do so manually.
