YouTube Liberated is a lightweight, high-performance extension designed to return control of the YouTube experience back to you. With 0 Ads, 0 Posts, 0 shorts, free up your interface, block distractions, and unlock premium features-completely free.

Optimized for both Firefox for Desktop and Firefox for Android, it functions seamlessly on mobile devices to give you a true YouTube Premium-style music and video experience.

🌟 Key Features
🚫 Ad-Free Playback (Zero-Flicker Blocker) Blocks all video ads (pre-rolls, mid-rolls), homepage banners, feed ads, search ads, and player overlay banners. The custom engine skips ads instantly and mutes their audio so you never notice them.
🎵 Background Audio Playback (Premium Music Mode) Keep listening to your favorite music, podcasts, and videos when Firefox is minimized or the screen is locked on Android (Desktop Mode) and Desktop. (No more forced pauses).
📱 Shorts Redirection & Blocker Hides the vertical Shorts shelf grids from your homepage and subscriptions feed to keep your feed clean. Additionally, any attempt to visit a /shorts/ URL automatically redirects it to play in the standard YouTube watch player.
📰 Community Posts Blocker Cleans up subscription feeds and the home feed by completely removing Community Posts and dynamic text updates.
🎛 Independent Toggle Controls Tailor your experience. Choose exactly what you want to block or allow with simple, instant-apply toggles from the toolbar popup menu (no page reload required).
🛠 How It Works (Technical Overview)
Element Suppression: Injects optimized CSS rules directly under root classes (yt-block-ads, yt-block-shorts, yt-block-posts) to hide cluttered sections with zero layout layout-shifting or performance impact.
Interactive Ad Skipper: A targeted MutationObserver coordinates with event listeners on video elements to detect ads and instantly skip them, mute them, and set playback rate to 16x.
Background Audio Fix: Intercepts and overrides the browser's Page Visibility API so that YouTube is never notified when the browser tab loses focus or becomes hidden, preventing the video from pausing.
🔒 Privacy & Data Collection
We believe in absolute privacy. YouTube Liberated does not track, collect, store, or transmit any user data, search histories, or personal identification. All preferences are stored locally in your browser’s secure storage.
