This extension has no backend servers and collects no data about you, your browsing, or your checks.


When you initiate a SynthID check, the media file you selected is downloaded from the site hosting it and then attached to synthid.com's upload form. From that point forward, the file and your activity on synthid.com are governed by Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (synthid.com is operated by Google). According to synthid.com, uploaded files are deleted after detection, and a media signature is retained for 24 hours for quota tracking.


With the drop zone setting on (the default), a small script runs on every page you open, only to notice when you start dragging an image. It reads nothing from the page and sends nothing anywhere unless you drop an image on the drop zone, which starts a check as described above. You can turn it off in the settings in the toolbar menu.


Your extension settings (e.g., whether to open synthid.com in the foreground) are stored in Firefox Sync storage, which is governed by Firefox's privacy practices.


While awaiting upload to synthid.com, the selected file is stored locally in the extension's IndexedDB for at most 10 minutes, or until the tab is closed, whichever comes first. It is never transmitted or logged.
