Leaf Downloader Hasan Imroz توسط

Easily send video URLs from Firefox to your Leaf Downloader desktop app. Features a native YouTube player button, universal hover detection for web videos, and context menus for seamless downloading via yt-dlp.

Technical Summary

The Leaf Downloader extension serves as a robust, highly adaptive bridge between Firefox and your local yt-dlp-powered desktop application.

State Management & Polling: The Manifest V3 background worker constantly polls your local server (127.0.0.1:9549) to update a dynamic color-coded browser badge (ON/OFF), keeping the user instantly informed of the desktop app's availability.

Deep Platform Integration: * YouTube: Automatically injects a custom download button seamlessly into the native YouTube video controller bar.

Universal Hover Bar: Dynamically detects <video> elements across any webpage and overlays a draggable download control panel upon hover.

Smart URL Resolution: It intelligently handles complex layouts, converting embedded iframe players (Vimeo, Dailymotion, YouTube) and extracting exact post URLs from major social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok) to hand over high-compatibility streams directly to yt-dlp.

Context Menus: Registers right-click contexts for links, page selections, and video nodes, sending payloads back through custom messaging ports.
