Gemini Link Fixer: Direct Access, No Redirects

Stop the "Search Loop" and get straight to your sources.

While Google Gemini provides helpful citations, many users find that clicking these links doesn't take them to the source website. Instead, it triggers a Google Search redirect, adding an unnecessary step between you and the information you need.

Gemini Link Fixer is a lightweight, privacy-focused extension for Firefox designed to streamline your AI workflow. It automatically "cleans" outgoing links on gemini.google.com, stripping away the Google tracking prefix and sending you directly to the destination URL.
Key Features:

Instant Redirection: Eliminates the intermediate Google Search page when clicking on Gemini’s citations.

Cleaner Browsing: Keeps your browser history tidy by bypassing redundant search queries.

Privacy-Friendly: By removing the redirect wrapper, you reduce the metadata tracked during your transition from Gemini to external sites.

Set and Forget: No configuration needed. Once installed, the plugin works silently in the background.

Why use this?

If you use Gemini for research, fact-checking, or deep-dives, those extra clicks add up. This plugin restores the expected behavior of the web: a link should take you to its destination.
How it Works

The extension identifies links formatted with the Google redirect prefix (e.g., google.com/url?q=...) within the Gemini interface. It then extracts the true destination and updates the link in real-time, ensuring a "native" clicking experience.

Note: This extension is specifically optimized for Firefox to ensure high performance without slowing down your chat sessions.
