Auto-Mute Background Tabs BrOleg5 توسط

Auto-Mute Background Tabs automatically mutes tabs running in the background and unmutes the active tab. This ensures that you hear only the content you are currently watching.

AI-generated software notice: The code for this extension was written entirely by AI coding agents under the developer’s direction.

The extension was originally created for instantly switching between multiple live streams — for example, several Twitch streams opened in separate tabs. All streams can continue playing in the background while only the selected stream remains audible.

When you switch tabs, the previous stream is muted before the newly selected tab is unmuted. This helps prevent audio from multiple tabs from briefly overlapping.

Because the extension only controls muting and does not pause playback, background streams remain live. You can switch between them without manually managing sound, restarting playback, or waiting for the stream to catch up.

Key features

• Automatically mutes background tabs that play audio.

• Mutes the previous tab before unmuting the new one to prevent overlapping audio.
• Does not pause playback — videos, music, and live streams continue running in the background.
• Can manage one Firefox window or all Firefox windows.
• Leaves silent background tabs unchanged.
• Does not collect or transmit user data.
• Contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Operating modes

• Disabled: Automatic muting is disabled. The extension does not modify any tabs, and their current mute states are preserved.
• All windows: The extension manages tabs across all normal Firefox windows. The active tab in the most recently focused window remains audible, while other background tabs playing audio are muted.
• This window only: The extension manages only the Firefox window in which this mode was selected. Tabs in all other windows remain unchanged.
