- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13966862, duela 6 urteThis thing uses Node.Js for something which should be a very simple procedure. It makes you install a custom app, which is a pain.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Marodeur, duela 6 urteEs startet zwar kurz der VLC aber geht auch sofort wieder aus und spielt nicht ab !!!
UNBRAUCHBAR ! Leider.
Das Teil ist nur was für Profis, die genau wissen was man wo einstellen muss,
sonnst läuft hier gar nichts. :(
--> Sehr enttäuschend für "normale Benutzer" !
Also für die meisten "nicht zu gebrauchen".
Was soll so ein UNSINN ??? - Rated 5 out of 5by cirrus, duela 6 urteWindows users, install youtube-dl
https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/supportedsites.html
(one of the best open sourced software)
It will allow URLS from vidzi, dailymotion etc. to play, also install mpv media player, have the youtbue-dl.exe and the mpv.exe into the same dir and add to path environment, as for linux brethren, you know the score, just add path to mpv instead of vlc. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13771410, duela 6 urteDoes what it says it does. Unfortunately doesn't support youtube's DASH-Playback, so no more than 720p resolution supported on youtube.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Ariel, duela 6 urteIt works great and have no complains, but I'm gonna throw a suggestion out there. VLC is terrible for playing http / hls / mpd content. I mean really terrible, you pause the video and when you resume it will just stop and wont remember las playback position, it wont cache content properly, etc. I started using mplayer derivates and now Im really happy (smplayer, potplayer) but I can't use this extension. I use one that is called videodownloadhelper, copy the link, and paste it on the player. So anyhow, my sugestion is: create an extension that allows you to open this kind of media using whatever program you want. Another thing ist that using just the url allows is closing the browser, and the playback wont stop, I don't know if that's a browser limitation or by design.

- Rated 3 out of 5by せしゆ, duela 7 urtenot bad. but...
it coud not work from thumnail "Open in VLC" by context menu... uh oh... - Rated 4 out of 5by tipar, duela 7 urteWorks perfectly, the only con it is that you have to install an external software in order to work properly.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13237597, duela 7 urteThis is a great replacement for VLC YouTube Shortcut, which still is not a WebExtension. That being said, that addon has options for play AND enqueue, as well as keyboard shortcuts to hold ctrl or shift while clicking link to choose either one. While these are already useful, I use a custom script with both of these addons, which makes the 2 different options even better. Having these features here as well would make this the perfect replacement for VLC YouTube Shortcut. I kindly ask this be looked into to see if these features can still be done. I still recommend this for Firefox 57+ users regardless :)
