Nice design, but it repeatedly corrupts the local bookmarks database. Which either does or does not corrupt the databases on your other computers. Nice intentions, very flawed execution. I have quit this company and am now using Ffox synchEsta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (220.127.116.11-signed). Pretty good, handy, takes up little space. No support from website. Hard to configure as the config dialogue will not accept input.
Goes from great to unstable Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas
I wish I could find something better. When Xmarks works, it's great: it gives good control over the backup and distribution of your bookmarks.
When it's bad, it corrupts your bookmark database. Then one is forced to overwrite the set in the cloud or overwrite the local version. Either one loses the last n days worth of saved bookmarks.
I ALWAYS do a Firefox local backup of the bookmarks before I invoke Xmarks. ALWAYS. You should too.
The company does offer a variety of Knowledgebase articles on how to fix problems, but the answers are either: destroy your local set or destroy the cloud set. In short, either way you will feel pain.
Quality has gone downhill Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas
I have been using Xmarks way before it became a subscription service, when it was also still the go-to for transferring passwords between my various Firefox installations. That length of time shows how convinced I am of its usefulness. However, in the last 5-6 months Xmarks has repeeated corrupted my bookmarks and/or simply hung up Firefox (whereby a forced kill also tends to corrupt the bookmark store). I have no insider information as to why this is the case, but I am slowly becoming convinced that Xmarks (owned by Lastpass) cannot maintain their software (whereby Lastpass has not failed me yet). I am afraid I need to start looking for another solution.
In the meantime, a warning to all users: make a Firefox manual backup to your local drive EVERY TIME you invoke Xmarks. Or you will be sorry 1 out of 8 times.
pretty good but why weaken it? Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
I have used Xmarks (Foxmarks) for some 3 (?) years and mostly it has been very reliable. Maybe once it got tangled up, but I used the local Firefox bookmarks backup to restore (as my online Xmarks backup was potentially tainted). However, disabling the password synch feature (and forcing one to LastPass) needlessly weakens the product. For critical passwords I use LastPass (used to use Roboform, but it is way too Windows-centric). But for non-critical forum logins and such, Firefox's password manager is waaay speedier than LastPass. This situation is quite an aggravation, and I hope Xmarks considers reinstating the Password synch functionality.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (18.104.22.168-signed).
Needs improvement Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
Now that Xmarks has dropped password synchronization, and Firefox synch capacity is crude, one has to figure out a way to manager passwords. Overall the Lastpass experience is very good, at least with respect to the actual logging into websites. Most of the time it will automatically login you, but sometimes after going to a site, you have to hunt through your "Vault" to force it login.
However, if you need to maintain your logins, you have to use their web interface, and that can be very very slow, sometimes 10-15 seconds per update. Not horrible if you are making a single edit, but nerve-wracking if you need to edit several entries, or move entries to new categories. Roboform is another alternative, but still Windows-centric. At least Lastpass's web interface is platform neutral. Sadly nothing beats the quick responsiveness of Firefox's password manager.
Roboform Everywhere is broken Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas
The previous set of password/encrypted note tools were quite useful, worthy of 5 stars. The rationale for the "Everywhere" is to make Rform accessible on all OS's. However, on my Mac, the Roboform LIte bar is grayed out and no one knows how to fix it. Within Windows (XP), I took the chance and upgrade to the desktop model of Everywhere, and stored data is no longer accessible. (Luckily I still have old version on a thumbdrive, or I would be really sunk. My advice, wait a good month before giving them any money or upgrading. Strangely enough, I can no longer log in to my user account on the Roboform website, My stored login (on my thumb drive) no longer takes me to a login screen. My data is still there, as I still have my old version of the browser addon, and that shows my data is still on their servers. Beware.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (2.0.0).
