Downloads Window

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

Not really that useful without an option to keep the download window open after the download completes. You still have to open the download library when the download is done to run the downloaded file.

Been waiting for this. Thank you Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

I have been using FT Graphite Glow. I usually like darker themes than that though. The other dark themes steva made, however were just too dark. This theme is more of a charcoal color and is just about perfect. It's not too dark like the other themes steva has made. It could be a tad lighter, but I'm not going to complain since without actually seeing it that way, I can't tell whether it would be any better than this or not. It's definitely a keeper as it is.

external IP

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

Not as good as 0.9.9.5. After installing the 0.9.9.6 update on 5/20/11, it alerts me that my IP has changed every time I start the browser even though my IP has not changed. This started occurring right after I installed the update and has not remembered the very first change after I installed the update. In addition, even though I uncheck ALERT ME EVERY TIME MY IP CHANGES, it still alerts me anyway, and when I check to see if the alert is still unchecked, it is not, so there is no way to stop it from alerting me.

CsFire

Has its drawbacks Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

A few days after installing this extension, I ordered some items from Newegg. When I went to pay for the items, I kept getting an error message telling me that they could not complete my request for payment. I ended up submitting the order another three or four times before I figured out that the initial order had gone through by checking my Newegg account page. I finally realized that CSFire was blocking a browser request that would have informed me that the initial order had gone through. Needless to say, I uninstalled CSFire so that I would have no further problems in this regard and have not had similar problems on subsequent orders.

Yes, you can configure CSFire to allow those requests that you want, but the problem is that you don't know in advance when and where this kind of thing will occur, and without knowing that, you can't configure it to allow them

NetVideoHunter Downloader

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

So far, this add-on works flawlessly for me. I have had no problem downloading videos. I started using this extension because it doesn't add toolbars, screenshot tools, or anything else when installed like some other video downloading extensions I have tried.

Tile Tabs

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Problem solved. As someone else pointed out, this extension does not work with Tiny Menu for some reason. I normally use Compact Menu anyway, so I uninstalled Tiny and installed Compact instead, and this extension now works fine.

Tile Tabs

Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

Still useless. I tried this extension again because the developer says it works with Speed Dial. When I use the toolbar button to instruct the browser to tile the tabs, it does absolutely nothing; it just remains tabbed and not tiled. The instructions given here seem simple enough to follow, but following them the way they are written does nothing, so maybe one of the couple of dozen extensions I am using is negating the tile action, maybe Tab Mix Plus, I don't know, but the fact remains that it doesn't work

Purple Fox theme pack

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

10 stars. This is the best. Thanks to the author for removing the grayed out extra toolbar and bookmark toolbar buttons; that makes all the difference in the world. This theme is the best if you like dark themes with a splash of purple. I just installed this on 3.6, and it works fine

Clipple

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

The problem with Clipple is that it copies everything you copy from the context menu. It would be better if you could save the things you want to Clipple and not the things you don't want. It only gives you a maximum of 40 copies, and that runs out real fast. Once it reaches the max, you lose the things you wanted to save and are left with the things you didn't want to save.

Purple Fox theme pack

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

My favorite two colors - purple and black. The contours are pleasing to the eye, and the horizontal striations give it a nice sense of contrast. It looks really nice, but one thing keeps me from using it. The bookmark toolbar and the toggle toolbar icons that come with the Toobar Buttons extension are grayed out when these toobars are hidden and normal when the bars are exposed, which is opposite of the way it should be - grayed out when the bars are exposed and normal when the bars are hidden. Too many theme makers make this mistake, but there are some out themes out there (LavaFox, Stratini Black, and Red Shift) that don't use any grayed out toolbar buttons. The better Firefox themes don't have them grayed out at all so that they don''t detract from the appearance of the theme whichever configuration the user employs. I don't understand why anyone would want them grayed out at all since it's pretty easy to see whether the toolbar is exposed or hidden without having to look at the toolbar icon; the grayed-out toolbar icons provide no information that isn't already readily apparent, but they do detract from the theme's appearance. The colors of this theme are excellent, and the theme is aesthetically pleasing with the striations and contours, but the grayed out icons on the toolbar make it look awful.

disablemenu

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Excellent autohide extension. I put all of my navigation icons on the menubar, so this extension is perfect. Also, it doesn't require the statusbar to be either hidden or available only when hovering over links like Pimpoflage does. I use the extended statusbar extension and there is information on the statusbar I use constantly. Hiding it constantly or making it appear only when hovering over a link to see it is unacceptable; if the statusbar is made to show when hovering over links, it causes the browser to freeze up when going down a list of links and clicking on each one. Under those circumstances, the browser is trying to process the show statusbar instruction while receiving a multitude of those instructions along with instructions to open the webpages on a tab at the same time, and this causes a significant degree of hesitation in the browser's operation. This freezing up does not occur with this extension due to the fact that the statusbar can be shown at all times, which is not possible with Pimpoflage, and all those extra instructions to show the statusbar do not interfere with the browsers normal operation. The only improvement I would suggest is to have a mouseout pixel measurement from the top of the window so users could set the number of pixels from the top where the menubar would go back into hiding.

Pimpoflage - Auto Hide Options for Status Bar and Navigation Bar

Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

Just another observation with respect to the statusbar. Without being able to have the statusbar on at all times, the only way to see it at all after the page has loaded is to set it to appear when hovering over links. However, every time you hover over a link, even if you are just scrolling past it, there is a hesitation while scrolling when the statusbar appears and hides while you are scrolling past links. You can also make the statusbar appear by hovering over the bottom of the FF window, but if you have set your Windows taskbar to autohide, you can't really make the statusbar appear since your Windows taskbar will appear before the FF statusbar appears if you move your cursor to the bottom of the FF window. This extension would just be a lot less problematic if it was able to keep the statusbar visible at all times.

The problem with the bookmarks toolbar appears now to be one of focus. You don't have to click on a link to make the navigation bar autohide after accessing a bookmark from the bookmark toolbar. Bringing a tab into focus by left-clicking on any open area on a webpage in any tab will cause the authoide function to reengage. This is not a big deal and most likely is not the fault of the Pimpoflage extension.

Pimpoflage - Auto Hide Options for Status Bar and Navigation Bar

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

I had several problems with this addon. First and foremost, there is no way to turn off the autohide feature for the status bar. The extended statusbar has information on it that I refer to from time to time, and it's annoying to have to hover over a link every time I want to see that information. Secondly, there are settings in the options menu for which there are no explanations, and there is no documentation either here or on the author's website explaining these options; in fact, this extension is not even listed on the author's website. It would be nice to have an explanation of each of these functional parameters in order to better modify the operation of the autohide function to suit the user's needs. The author says above to "modify the settings for Pimpoflage according to the size of your top bar," but gives no explanation of just what settings he is talking about or how they should be adjusted. Finally, operation of the autohide function appears to be erratic when accessing links from the bookmark toolbar; sometimes it autohides after clicking on a bookmark on the toolbar, and sometimes it does not. This most often happens if you hide your bookmark toolbar with a toolbar button after clicking on a bookmark; the autohide function will not reengage until you click on a link on a webpage on any of the open tabs. I have been looking for an autohide extension ever since the old Autohide extension disappeared from the Firefox extension pool many FF versions ago; hopefully, the author will address these concerns to convert this extension into a comprehensive and effectively modifiable autohide extension with a complete explanation of what each of the settings does and how they affect the behavior of the autohide function.

Browser Backgrounds

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

This is an update to my previous review. After the author's response to my previous update, I decided to reinstall this extension and correct some of my previous complaints. 1. Yes there is a local install, and you don't have to upload the background to have it installed locally. 2. Although I joined the community, it appears that you do not have to do so since there is a local install. The community is there just to share your backgrounds with others. 3. The author acknowledged that the upload limit is limited to 200kb due to others with slow internet connections. However, I believe that this could be doubled without much of a problem. 4. The tutorial and the instructions on the website are, in fact, confusing, incomplete, and different than what is actually installed. The explanations offered here on the Firefox Addons website are easier to understand and more complete than what is on the author's website; without the explanation here, there is no way that I could find out how to do the local install and the deleting of backgrounds that you do not want. Moreover, the tutorial on the author's website show a different UI than the UI you actually use to install and delete backgrounds. 5. The procedure to have a static background was ultimately explained here, and it does work. I took one star off for the lack of accurate and easily comprehended instructions on the author's website. This is not a criticism of the extension itself, but if people cannot easily find answers to their questions on the website, they will become frustrated and uninstall this extension that works very well when the user understands how to operate it.

Browser Backgrounds

Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

It's a nice idea, but many reasons not to install it. 1. No local install of background. 2. You have to join a community to upload pictures. 3. Uploads limited to 200kb. 4. Instructions on how to upload your backgrounds are confusing and different than what the interface actually requires. 5. The background is not static. You don't just get your background, you also have to view all the backgrounds that others have uploaded to a particular category, and they are displayed in a rotating order, meaning you may hardly get to see your background depending on how many backgrounds are in that category. It would be nice to have an extension like this, but with this one, there's just too much BS to put up with while the gains are minimal. I am just hoping it uninstalls without a hitch.

FireDownload

Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

This extension increased my download speed by 40 to 50 percent. I had two problems with it. First, it does not seem to be compatible with Download Statusbar since my Firefox crashed when the download finished; no big deal since I can live without Download Statusbar. The killer for me is the inability to save the file to a folder of my choice. The default download location set by this extension is the desktop, and there is no way to change it. The time I save with the increased download speed is offset by the hassle of having to move the file from the desktop to my normal save locations.

LavaFox V2

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

This is a really nice theme, but it does need some improvements. The pluses are the contours, the rounded search and URL boxes, and the subtle use of red. Also, the non-greying of the "Toogle Toolbar" and "Bookmark Toolbar" buttons are a big plus since I usually keep these toolbars hidden unless I need them, and most theme authors make the buttons greyed when they are hidden, which makes the theme look like garbage. There are two major improvements I would suggest. 1. Some more color or contrast to the standard Firefox navigation icons so that they stand out a little more. 2. There is a space between the tabs that should be eliminated. IMO, they would look better with a cylindrical look and close together instead of having space between them. Otherwise, this is a very good theme. I normally use Red Shift, and I like this theme even better. I look forward to continued improvements to this theme.

Noia 2.0 (eXtreme)

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

The black theme kicks butt. I've been using Aero Fox and Aquatint that were done by the same person. That person seems to not have an interest in updating his themes or only does a half fast job, and I was looking for another good dark theme. This one is by far the best. The only problem I have with it is that the All-in-One Sidebar is no longer autohide in that the sidebar doesn't pop out when the cursor is placed at the side of the screen. IMO, that's not enough of an issue to take anything away from this theme, but it would be nice if this could be addressed in future updates.
