Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
I had great hopes for this addon but upon installing it on 56 (yes I know it says tested up to 48) it doesn't work, it generates no page when you type about:addons-memory and provides an error of an illegal call in the console:
NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE: Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsIIOService2.newChannelFromURI2] in main.js at line 17
So unfortunately it seems it is quite dead and hence not helpful at all, if a modification can be made to bring it up to code, that would be great and I am happy to re-evaluate it.
Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
It somehow got force installed, I was holding off until it was working properly, and now every script is practically busted for reasons that are impossible to figure out because of lacking proper error reporting of cause. At this moment, it has become utterly useless. I have faith in the developer but this has been a truly bad update and now trying to figure out how to revert without losing everything.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (4.1).
WebExt update discarded options, the button is useless now and there is no way to set the save directory defaults Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
Since there is no real support site for this addon, have no choice but to put it here. The extension was annoying with the begging for ads and so on but now it has become quite dysfunctional with the WebExt update.
1. No way to set the default directory anymore or change it, there is no interface present for it, so it just chooses where to put it and you have to live with it. Why? If someone can bring up about:config and set it there, then sure as shit you can provide an interface to set it properly.
2. There is no way to disable upload anymore and it has been set to default to the author's own servers, this is unacceptable.
3. You made a tab for pushing advertisement but didn't even bother putting a way to change important items, such as #1 or to disable #2, this shows a completely lack of attention to the quality of the latest update.
4. The toolbar icon is now useless, since before you could choose what to do with it and now if you set a default behavior, it will never show a menu to do anything different, your choices are locked in and that's it and no way to access the option without going through the addons page, many extensions have the multiple drop down options and better interface but this has gone backwards to be utterly useless now. Shows a clear lack of understanding proper UI/UX of the developer.
As a long time user and supporter of this addon, I can honestly say that it has become very unfriendly and unusable with a piss poor implementation in the latest update which will require me to dump it and find a better alternative. Shame.
1. That is entirely not true. Other extensions do it just fine, you might try and research a bit more.
2. Nothing should be selected by default period, you need to at least add an option at the very top that says "NONE" because you are opening people up to accidentally clicking the upload because of the horrible menu rendering you have, and since there is an option selected, it WILL happen, so if you don't want to provide a way to disable it, you need to provide a null option.
4. You need to test it before saying it, right clicking on the icon simply brings up the Firefox default toolbar and customize menu, nothing for your extension.
As for the MZ forum, you need to either put it in the addon's page, change the support link to point to it, or when you take people to your generic personal page, have it clearly put there so people know, they are not mind readers. Not to mention you didn't have this until 9/30/17 which is AFTER this review, so it didn't actually exist already.
it is now officiallly utter garbage Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
Consider the 2 stars the pity for the fact that you started with a great concept and then ruined it with greed, lack of innovation and so much bugs that never get addressed. There is non-existent support and utter silence from the developers which means this is nothing more than a money grab or to make something to sell and they care nothing for its quality, reputation or functionality.
The FX addon as been broken for so long without any action that it has become a useless garbage that won't save any settings, keeps prompting for the E2E password and won't retain anything. It is a constant annoyance which far outweighs any worth. Another promising vision ruined by incompetent developers lacking any integrity or dignity.
You are replaceable by open source, clean, functional, efficient and TRULY FREE solutions that don't have so much gimmick (features that were free but now paid because they ran out of things to innovate) and play with their users (offering quota for referral and then giving you nothing). You showed your true colors very early on, which in a way I thank you - better to know now that you are unreliable and untrustworthy than later.
I won't mention the other immensely superior solutions because my review and the complaint about the software is legit and I don't want anything to distract from it. You can simply search for alternatives to this failure and find them in spades. I will however say, avoid AirDroid, they are woefully compromised, even in that condition they are superior to Push.
/EDIT: As of 56 this addon completely breaks, won't load anything at all and cannot even be reinstalled as Mozilla considers the package corrupt. So pathetic that after all this time knowing there is a problem with it and didn't fix it, now they just let it die altogether; if they have no respect for their own product why should anyone else frankly. They have effectively abandoned it and that shows their lack of integrity and makes them utterly untrustworthy.
Flag Sizes and Colors Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
I love this addon and have used it for a long time, but I have to say that I am very disappointed in the v5 beta version. The alternative flags are missing which is the ones I always used as they look better and the default flag sizes and colors are just absolutely hideous. Please use smaller sizes and better color scheme or provide the alternative list back again. I will be happy to vote it 5's like it deserves when it regains it.
EDIT: @Dave thank you for the reply and the width option was helpful, now the size is more reasonable at 20 for me. You misunderstood what I mean by the color scheme, I am not saying the flag colors should not be exact, they are fine. I mean the color intensity looks "tacky" for a better word, compare to the alternate flag set you have in the pre-v5 version and you will see what I mean, once looks flat, dark, and the other looks light, glossy and bright.
Dev Should Have Anticipated Fx20 Release Breaking Functionality Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas
I have been a very long time user of this addon and have a special place in my heart for it. I like the way its written, the way it works, the options it has and it is part of my package of addons that go into a new profile without fail.
However, as it has become abundantly clear, the release of Fx20 has broken this addon's functionality and I have to say with respect to all who have provided "workarounds" that disable private browsing to get it to work is not a solution, highly advised against and frankly a piss poor solution. The fact is that Fx20 has been in the works since the last release and any developer should be on top of compatibilities for the upcoming releases to ensure their addon continues to work without fail. The fact that this is how we are finding out and now expecting the addon to be fixed in response to a problem, rather than preventing it like the hundreds of professional developers on AMO that keep up with code changes without interruption in the functionality of their addon.
To make matters worse, the link provided for the addon's homepage which supposedly would also serve as its support center is invalid and that's a shame. With no way to get support through legitimate means, people are left to putting their issues here in reviews which is the inappropriate forum for airing such issues and should focus on the evaluation of the quality of the addon and not be the only means to notify the developer of issues with it.
I am highly disappointed to say the least and hope that the developer begins some serious work on setting up a proper page for both support and related information for this addon, as well as doing a better job to keep up with changes in the Fx code which are mind you quite a bit and frankly getting ridiculous, but still if you are going to make an addon for something, you have to take that into account and keep up with it. Others do it and is frankly a regular part of the development and future compatibility cycle.
And for anyone who is going to make the "its free, what do you want" argument, don't belittle the principle of professionalism and providing a quality product. The fact is that you choose to make something, you should either do it right and with consistency and professionalism, or just don't do it. Free shouldn't equal crap and never should be considered an excuse for doing less than your best on something.
This in no way is intended to be offensive, belittling, or ungrateful and should not be taken as negative criticism or bashing in any way. It is intended as an honest and sincere feedback on something I began by giving my compliment and appreciation for. Therefore if I didn't care about it, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this, so take it as constructive criticism arising out of frustration stemming from disappointment at the loss of functionality with hope that it will help avoid future stumbles.
System of Mob Rule Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
2 Star rating is only for the idea, not the implementation or value of this addon. Read why below.
Although the concept is interesting, that you have a world of people rating things, the most fundamental flaw is that we are leaving it to fanboys and haters to decide. It is hardly ever that there is an impartial person making the call and there is no comprehensive or systematic system of validation of such ratings, just whatever anyone wants to say.
So if the majority of people who took the time to rate are haters of a site, it might get a bad reputation without being a bad site, and vice versa. That's a huge fundamental flaw of this system, its mob rule mentality, not to mention that each individual's perception of what is bad or good is entirely too subjective to be valid in itself unless the person is a professional. So even if not rated from point of outright bias, it has an inherent bias of the person who is rating based on their lack of knowledge on what they are rating or what they "think" constitutes bad.
This is more of a WOP, web of popularity at the moment, so comes down to how many people like your site or don't like it, not really that its safe, or not. We all know what they say about opinions, right? Well all this addon does is collect them, nothing objective about it. So the database might as well be a sewage plant.
And a note to the developers, stop being so sloppy for god's sake, is it so hard to ask that you maintain a changelog and make it easily available like any other legitimate addon so people know what the hell you are changing in each release? There is no record of your changes, I have searched your entire site, support site, even looked in the forum and there is no concise and comprehensive version based changelog regarding changes to the addon, that's not only a bad habit but implies you are just winging it without a plan or accountability.
/EDIT: Response to the developer reply:
Star rating changed to the lowest due to the confirmation of purpose received through the developer's response.
You say your system is meritocratic, and that if you took what people actually said that it could be skewed and so you use a system to prevent that. So in effect you are admitting that you are actually manipulating and controlling what the weight of the reports are which effectively proves the allegations that you in fact assign grades based on your own opinions and not the actual will of the people or their reports. So the fact that one can "buy" your good seal of trust is quite possible if not indeed a fact. You can't have it both ways. On the one hand you claim that you are showing what people have reported and how they feel and you can't control how that affects the outcome of a good site being labeled as malicious and on the other hand you say that you don't because people can affect the outcome of it by numbers, so which is it? Do you intervene and actually decide or not? What you say about merit and what you say about controls to prevent it, are contradictory. The fact is that the popular opinion about your tool being just that a TOOL and not accurately reflecting the reputation of the site based on what people say like you claim and is indeed skewed and influenced by your own motivations and decisions, so we are expected to trust YOU to be doing the right thing and yet what you say and do are a contradiction in terms.
It is a shame that Mozilla does not take a more proactive approach to validation of your service and blindly recommends it. It is doing the people a great disservice.
IT DOES NOTHING Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
If I could rate this less than 1, I would. I have installed this and it has done NOTHING. Its always blank, it tracks nothing, shows nothing, does nothing it says. I mean if you are going to market something so "revolutionary" you might want to make sure it actually does what it says, hell have it do ANYTHING at this point would be better than what it is doing, which is NOTHING. It doesn't show or track or display anything but a blank screen ALL THE TIME.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (0.16.3.1-signed).
Needs a Version Bump Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas
I have been using this addon for a long time, even before it was available on AMO and I love what it accomplishes and the simplicity by which it does so. I believe people would benefit from having it. I strongly urge the developers to please keep on top of the rapid Fx versioning and keep the addon compatible. Thank you.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (4.2.1-signed).
Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
The concept of this addon is noble but the implementation is pathetic and awful. It causes random and numerous crashes, it slows down the browser, litters the preferences with excessive entries, has no support or way to reach anyone to report problems. I would stay away from this until they get their act together and fix up. They are using this to drive traffic and attention to their other services and don't really give enough attention to developing it for itself. Real shame.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.314).
Useful and Effective Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
I was turned on to this by a fellow mod and I find it absolutely awesome and effective. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars (which it deserves in principle) is that it does not provide an easy way to see the resulting search "engine" code or to have it packaged for reuse or exported so you don't have to create it again on future installs. A low level hack of the profile provides it to you but not everyone knows where to look and it would be remarkable if you could include those options and perhaps even an uploader integration to send your engine ready to go to the Mycroft. Otherwise, excellent work and thank you.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.8).
Very Useful Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
This is a great addon that I found because a fellow mod turned me on to it and I think its great for cleaning up the interface/page before printing. I have just one request for it which would make it perfect and that's to add the ability to use mouse clicks to remove the object once the element has been isolated and found (instead of ONLY using keypress) and that's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise excellent work and hope to see that feature added in the future. Thank you.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (2.97).
excellent but with a couple of tweaks Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
This is an excellent addon with lots of promise and fulfills the needs expressed very well. However, a couple of tweaks might be nice for the next release/update. 1) Please either prompt for the settings immediately after install BEFORE you initiate the default sort options or do NOT automatically sort based on your defaults, this screws up any menu structure that the user may NOT wish to sort your way before they have a chance to change the options for it. 2) Remove the bookmark toolbar from the "all bookmarks" list and make it an entirely separate option, since that's where most peoples custom ordered bookmarks are held and sorting them will screw it up. By default sorting bookmark toolbar should not be sorted. Other than that, great job and thank you for an excellent job.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.5.0).
Awesome Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas
I have used this addon for a long time and I love it. I find it a valuable part of my standard set of extensions. However, I do have one issue with it not identifying the servers properly on certain occasions. For example, on domain x it will say Apache XXX and then you go to another page on the SAME domain, SAME server and it says M$ IIS which is not possible, I know because its my own domain. Other than those occasional glitches and missing data on alot of sites I come across, it is a great tool. Thank you and hope you will get the rest of the bugs out of it soon. Keep up the good work.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (0.1.6).
Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas
Well after the disappointing initial release of 2.0, the more recent updates and tweaks seem to be putting it back on track. Good work, keep it up.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (2.003).
Tons of Potential Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas
First let me say that I love this addon and think it has great potential. Its a wonderful proof of concept that can be developed and extended to go far beyond its current limits. The problem that I noticed is that there is no real way to get a hold of you and discuss this addon, no real support options available. If I may give some ideas out here hoping you are reading them: 1) add the concept for more elements, as the previous poster suggested, so I won't repeat, 2) provide the ability to whitelist certain sites where the addon would not assert itself, and there are much more I can offer if you want to get in touch with me, if you want I can even participate in helping you develop this further, up to you. Good luck and thanks.
Great Idea/Poor Implementation Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
This addon has the potential to be great but is developed in a very piss poor fashion and comes with ZERO support, documentation or the simple ability to revert what it changes. It does not integrate well with the theme, it does not provide any explanation for the changes it makes, no way to get a hold of the developer or provide feedback, uninstall leaves a lot behind and often incomplete, and has no ability to maintain the changes for restoring default options. I hope the developer cares enough to do something to fix this and make it better or just show common sense and remove it.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.10.2009031401).
The New Version Was a Mistake Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas
Version 2.0 is the WORST thing that could have happened to this add-on. This was one of the best working and most functional extensions until it was gutted and completely destroyed by ver 2.0 and I don't know what went wrong but it needs to be so fixed or just deleted. First off it destroyed the Fx profile when updated to this version and then it acts like its completely castrated and fails to function. This had so much potential, potentially it was destroyed.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (2.001).
Wonderfully Efficient Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas
This is a wonderfully efficient and useful tool to many and very well done. Thank you for the tool and as stated by another, works wonderfully as a regular calendar as well as a Baha'i calendar.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.1).
Long time user/supporter, First time review Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas
This is by far the most excellent, well designed and secure addon created to help the end user protect themselves. Any user, regardless of their experience and knowledge level would be well served to have this extension installed. For those who feel it adds too much limitation and restriction, consider that anything worth doing like protecting yourself should be proactive and you should care to learn it and do it. There are many security vulnerabilities coming out on a daily/hourly basis and a solution this well maintained and supported and designed would be a valuable addition to any arsenal. Highly recommended and you will be glad to have it. Thank you Giorgio Maone for developing this and we will continue to support you in keeping it the most useful, functional and well supported utility in the Firefox arsenal.Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (188.8.131.52).
