WeFind - Genau was Du suchst!

german Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

Apparently this app attracts german speaking people. I cannot read the reviews so I don't have a "third party" opinion on the reliability of this app - so I won't install it of course.

What about security? Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

Security looks like an issue to me (so I quickly desactivated this tool - which also means I could not test all the functionalities).

First of all, as the initial interface presents like a web form, where does my secure data go - is it sent to some server? I don't want my login/password information to be stored in some foreign database. How is this implemented?

I also read stuff about quite some things that are sent to some server, which will be used for statistics and so on. Is there a document that describes exactly what data is send (and also, how much KB that could be per request?)

*** ADDED REVIEW: July 27, 2008. ***

Okay, let me accept that no account information for my social networks is submitted to other servers: still, I somehow lost my trust in it (not forever, but for the time being I mean). I've been thinking why that happened, and I conclude that it is due to the fact that it was not clearly explained. The information that will be saved (login/pass for yoono) should have been clearly, totally separated from the other account information that this add-on does requests. This is more like a business requirement, but it is the major reason for my doubts.

My concerns are also connected with the fact that your policy does take it for self evident that bookmarks are send to your server(s). This is not really a security concern, it is a pure matter of trust in your policy: such a decision cannot be taken just 'on the spot'. In my opinion, Yoono fails, on such points, to strongly separate the service they offer, from the techniques they use and claim to be useful in providing this service.

It is by no means self evident that my 3600 bookmarks could be exported to another server just because I would not have read the policy very carefully. The add-on should not even include it: it should have been a link to the website where a very clear OPT-IN is presented, with good explanation. The fact that such an unwanted decision can happen so easily, disquiets me very much. Still, your response will be evaluated.

Kind regards.

Some improvement needed Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

I don't understand the guys who want to compare this with google notebook. They have nothing to do with each other - you cannot comment on this tool lif you didn't even install and explore it. Google notebook by the way is problematic if you use multiple google accounts (it saves in the one you're in). With Clipmarks, you're likely to have only one account on it of course.

The implementation is very professional. As others remarked: the limit in quoted text length is embarassing (but indeed this is because of legal issues: the limit is on public sharing - I can understand that). It would be nice if you can 'un-clip' certain parts, in stead of having to restart from scratch once you exceeded the permitted length limit.

Not intrusive Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

The good thing (besides being community-based of course) is that this is not intrusive (contrary to the NoScript addon for instance).

Undo Closed Tabs Button

The Final Comment Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

As others already said: Tab Mix Plus does this too and a lot more, and works perfect. 'Undo Closed Tabs Button' is outdated (except for those who need only this specific functionality).

Incompatibilities Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

I used the aero skin with 2.0. When I saw it available again today, I tried it, but it now is not working well with some of my new Firefox 3.0 addons. Just a quicky: doestn't work well with plugin ColorfullTabs (is logic: this plugin uses images to render the great colors on tabs). Try it, you will see. But I do not want to miss the colorful tabs anymore (works perfect with the default skin). Aero also appears not to work smooth with the All-in-One Sidebar addon. (The IE way of opening favorites - with the start button - looks a bit odd, it behaves like out of tune. Proposal: try to make it compatible, in the sense that when All-in-One Sidebar is installed, the star-button displays the favorites following the All-in-One standard. Would be great. Further: lots of icons on top (from many other plugins) don't look that good - sometimes there are strange borders, and so on. In fact, this may be due to bad rendering / blending of those icons, but the point is: they all look good with the default skin, and not with aero.

Otherwise, I always liked the aero skin. But for now: no, thank you. You are apologized: I think doing good skinning in such a unpredictable environment like Firefox is an almost impossible objective.

With kind regards.

Not trustworthy Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

I also think that integration with such services as spanbox (as in the firefox plugin my-spambox) or tempomail (cp. firefox plugin tempomail) is a much better idea. And certainly not inviting users to submit their legal logins to bugmenot or to anyone else.

Not trustworthy Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

When a login is not found, this tool invites the user to submit his login to bugmenot. This means, everyone who is not very security-aware, or even just absentminded, can be lead into thinking they should submit their gmail login/password, for instance. This message should have been a very clear warning page in stead of one short sentence inviting people to do the wrong thing.

The idea for this tool is great, but it should do much more to protect users.

Adblock Plus

Sin puntuar aún

Very good that it does NOT blocks the ads automatically. Unlike those who think that every Firefox lover has the same brainwaves triggered, banners are NOT per se pesky (particularly not the Google banners for instance, they have often proved informative and at the right place for me). So thanks for this handsome AND clever tool.
