Fix for misaligned Min-Max-Close buttons and some others Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

This is a great extension for saving vertical space on screen, and styling. A must have for laptop screens, especially used along with Tiny Menu or other menu shrinking addons.

Since 2.7.1 version the major issues caused by the changes in the browser UI after FF 12.0a1, has been solved. The only thing still around is making Min-Max-Close buttons to act as part of the upper bars, especially for fullscreen, but the solution provided is satisfactory. Also it seems the impact on the performance of the browser has been reduced, and the issue of the occasionally appearing buggy double upper bar has vanished.

Anyway if you still use (or actually get) the system buttons preference with the latests HCTP versions you may be still getting Min-Max-Close buttons misalignments problems (began with 2.6.0), I've made a userstyle to solve this, and also included some other small fixes (Stylish needed):

http://userstyles.org/styles/66071/hctp-titlebar-button-box-fix

This extension should be part of FF, or at least FF developers should pave the way for his author, to achieve the smooth integration this extension deserves to be absolutely great.

To 1nvisibleMan:
You can achieve that with Stylish, create a new style in Addon Manager/Styles with the following lines (or add the second line to ..\your_FF_profile\userchrome.css):

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);
#hcp-web-title-label-stbar{font-weight: normal !important}

lget

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Great extension for downloading files from URLs that trigger an action and don't allow direct donwload, e.g. some .xpi firefox extensions on some sites. A perfect companion for HTTP header monitor tools.

What I don't like is how the history feature is built... I mean, it's a parallel download history to the one of the browser itself, but it's not clearly specified it is a new one to the user... also the extension has no interface to access it (appart from clearing it), and as long as now it resides in lget.sqlite file and not in a text file (as it seems it did, like other reviews say) proper tools are needed to access it (SQLite Manager for example). As review of Haudy Kazemi points bellow, the fact that new history is not bound to the Clear History function of FF is a mayor drawback... fortunately the whole feature can be disabled. Also the keyboard shortcut it uses CTRL+E hijacks the one of FF to focus the search bar, but CTRL+K can still be used anyway.

Alternatively you can use Clipboard-Save-As extension, which support this extension main function with a minimal interface, that don't include a dialog to edit the URL on the clipboard, so it has to be well formed before copy (what may require a rapid previous edit in a editable space like the search bar or the adress bar for example).

Ctrl Tab Preview

Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

Quite good extension, but unlike Ctrl+Tab extension it does not let you switch to the immediately former tab you've focused (as the OSs windows managers usually do), instead it only switches among tabs in incremental sequence, which is a big drawback to me.
The visual inteface is neat, but seems a bit slow to me drawing tabs thumbnails.

Ctrl-Z

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Haven't tested it (so I rated with the current mean rate not influence rating), but, why would I need it? I have CTRL+SHIF+T (for closed tabs) and CTRL+SHIFT+N (for closed windows) yet.

CSS Reloader

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Great extension. Working FF 19.0a1 32-bit on win, and it's only 3.5KB.
Among its drawbacks, non configurable keyboard shortcut, lack of locales, and it's non restartless. If you need a restartless alternative Fresh CSS would help you, also allows configurable shortcut and toolbar bar/addon bar button, but it's irrationally large.

Although you can manually modify the shortcut:
- Unzip extension (or open it with 7-zip)
- Edit ../chrome/content/cssreloader.xul (F4 in 7-zip)
- Modify " keycode " parameter with the value you want of https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/XUL_Tutorial/Keyboard_Shortcuts and save file.
- Zip the extension to an .xpi file (or update extension file in 7-zip)... and there you have it.

Fresh CSS

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

It's a good alternative for restartless CSS Refresh (non working for me).
The main drawback is the size beyond 100KB, it's probably made from an addon development kit. The keyboard shortcut, hijacks F6 of FF for focusing the adress bar, but you can avoid that as it's configurable.

Alternatively you can use the restart required CSS Reloader extension, only 3,5 KB.

CSS Refresh

Puntuado con 1 de 5 estrellas

Not working for me in FF 19.0a1 (Nightly) 32-bit on win.
Also the keyboard shortcut combination would overlap with other FF restart extensions if you use them concurrently.

Alternatively you can use restartless extension Fresh CSS (working for me), but it also share the size problem with this one (both beyond 100KB), probably both are made from addon development kit.
The one I use is the restart required CSS Reloader, 3.5 KB.

deskCut

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Great extension.

However I found a couple of annoyances:
- If "prompt for filename" is checked, and the filename dialog is canceled or closed, it creates a shorcut with blank name instead of canceling the whole shortcut creation process... I think it should cancel, and only create the blank name shortcut after OK with the filename field empty (as also actually do).
- If the filename dialog is horizontally expanded, the filename field is not expanded with it.

Also I suggest to add an autohiding notification bar https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/XUL/notificationbox as an alert between the alert dialog box, and the absence of alerts.
Last, I've sent a locale to the email adress you show in http://deskcut.mozdev.org for you to add it.

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

This is a great extension for saving vertical space on screen, and styling. A must have for laptop screens, especially used along with Tiny Menu or other menu shrinking addons.

The last 2.7.1 version (see complete versions list) has solved all major issues since the changes in the user interface of the browser on FF 12, interfered with this extension. The only thing still around this issue is making Min-Max-Close buttons to act as part of the fullscreen hidding upper bars, but 2.7.1 deals with this in a satisfactory way.
The other main issue about this extension is (as always has been) that it slows down Firefox a bit, but this version seems to be faster than previous ones.

This extension functionality should be part of FF, or at least FF developers should pave the way for his author, so that maybe we'd see the smooth integration this extension deserves to be absolutely great.

Clipboard-Save-As

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Very useful extension for downloading files whose link trigger an action and other way don't allow save as action (e.g. some .xpi files of FF extensions on some sites). Perfect companion for HTTP header monitor tools. Its minimal interface don't include a dialog to edit the URL on the clipboard, so it has to be well formed before copy (what may require a rapid previous edit in a editable space like the search bar or the adress bar for example).

Alternatively you can use lget extension which offer the editon dialog this one not, keyboard shortcut and an extra history feature, also some locales.

Open Profile Folder

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Very useful addon if you frecuently access the user profile folder, but even more if you acess it not so frecuently and you have to remember where it was, and especially if you use several profiles.

Perspectives

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Very nice extension. I love the option to automatically bypass SSL security alert if the certificate pass the notary test. Other extensions automatically bypass that alert, and they can be useful especially on intranets or testing environments with controlled security, but this one adds the strongness of the notary system to do the same on the open internet. Great!.

Thanks to the guys of Carnegie Mellon.

Muter

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Great extension, it should be part of Firefox.
The only thing not working is the option to -restore silence on Firefox restart- that is doing nothing, sound on always on restart (FF 16.0a1 32-bit on win). Also I don't see the point of the drop marker in the addon bar icon as it's redundant with the secondary click, but as long as it is optional it's fine.

The problem with the latest Flash Player version 11.3.300.262 (not sure if it happens with any other of the 11.3 series) and Muter not being able to silence it, former revierwers reported and I had to bear, it's probably the same as this one http://support.mozilla.org/es/questions/930010#answer-344233 Now I'm using 10.3, as recommended to keep the latest security patches, and Muter is working fine with Flash.

Fix for bug: misaligned Min-Max-Close buttons Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

This is a great extension for saving vertical space on screen, especially for laptops where it is a must have, and also for styling Firefox. However it has some downsides:

- It slows down Firefox a bit.

- The second is about the way it redraws windows, because HCTP is doing it unlike how other extensions and userstyles (with Stylish) behave, applying in such a way new windows open with them applied. This behavior causes problems sometimes https://code.google.com/p/firefox-hide-caption-titlebar-plus/issues/detail?id=191&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Modified%20Summary&start=100#hc1

- After the changes imposed by the new Firefox UI since version 12 (as seen in this addon description for version 2.6.0), a bug with Min-Max-Close button box have appeared https://code.google.com/p/firefox-hide-caption-titlebar-plus/issues/detail?id=197&thanks=197&ts=1337746512, but I also have released a fix for it (Stylish needed):

Show Anchors 2

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Great fork. It solves all issues for FF 4 and upper versions.

This extension is extremely useful for linking, bookmarking or emailing links to a specific part of a web page.

Stylish

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

A must have extension, an essential piece when you're not conforming with the default browser or some web page layout.
Among its strong points are the agility in testing styles, enabling and disabling them, or simply viewing the effects without installing or before appying the changes you've just made in the editor, that flexibility level is something you're not going to achieve through other layout modification extensions; also the fact that you'll probably can handle all, or most of the layout modifiers you are going to use, from the same monolithic manager, in the Addon Manager.

Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (1.2.6).

Embedded Objects

Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Great addon. It works right for me for almost all the sites I visit, although there's a few sites where it doesn't detect embedded objects, maybe they apply techniques to avoid this. It's a lot easy to use and with a really neat interface.

Also I found a small bug in the context menu of the Details dialog in Embedded Objects 2.9, causing the context menu to show with a completely transparent background on FF 4 and upper versions. This can be easily solved by editing file ../chrome/content/EO-detailwindow.xul ... where it says:
...<popup ...
and
...</popup>...
it should say
...<menupopup ...
and
...</menupopup>...

Tab Control

Puntuado con 3 de 5 estrellas

It works almost right, and usually do, but it sometimes fails focusing right tab after closing one, and in that case usually focusing on the parent related tab, what is very annoying. I'm using Tabs Open Relative Modified now.
