I couldn't figure out how to use the product or where to find my bookmarks. When I went to the foxcloud website after registering, foxcloud did not recognize me there. Very frustrating.
This really makes my life easier as I am using 3 computers almost every day.
I use XP pro and have had zero problems with this add-on. Highly recommended.
Used this successfully between 2 XP machines, but have now updated one to Vista.
Runs OK and Syncs OK, but every time I boot the Vista machine the Setup wizard appears saying, "this appears to be the first time you have run Foxmarks..." or words to that effect, and takes me through the whole setup routine.
Seems to not retain my user name, so thinks it is starting for the first time.
My mistake - problem resolved - had Firefox set to clear forms after closedown. Changed that and all working well again.
Have revised my rating - great extension.
Messes up my Bookmarks Toolbar Folder badly; even if I download (overwrite), not merge. There are duplicate icons, after deleting some, there are empty icons left.
Favicons are not transfered, which is a bummer, too.
Ununstalled the next day - flash drive is still the best way with bookmarks synchronization.
I use it every day .. now it doesn't matter if I forget my USB memorystick
I submitted a bad review the first time around, but I'm going to give it a fairer shake. I only used it for a few days and didn't really allow myself to find the opt-out options. Maybe in their next update they could make these options more transparent and easier to use..but for now, it's not that bad.
Just fabulous, the absolutely the easiest way to get your favorites from one computer to another.
Google Synchronizer never really worked for me. Foxmarks only snycs the bookmarks, but it does the job. PLUS: I can configure any Webdav/ftp server as saving location for my bookmarks.
The best thing since sliced bread!!! Awesome add-on, easy to use, works great - keeps all of my computers (work, home, friends, on the road, anywhere) effortlessly synchronized to the same set of bookmarks.
Now I see why guys at PC World magazine were so crazy about this tool - thank you for an excellent tool.
Very simple installation and setup - it quickly moved all of my existing desktop bookmarks to my new laptop. No problems at all. This is exactly what I've been looking for.
If you have multiple computers and save url's on each of them, this add-on is an incredible time saver! Trying to do this yourself in IE is a joke and this add-on was one of the reasons I converted to Firefox from IE.
This plugin crashed my system and annihilated all my (over 2000, 5 years worth) of bookmarks. Afterwards, on Sync, it created 2 bookmark toolbars and didn't integrate them. Recommend avoiding.
I love this add-on. I wrote my own program that would manage my bookmarks offline, and online, so that I could access them from any computer. Then I found foxmarks. I could use it from any internet connected computer to have the same bookmarks integrated into the browser. It rocks. I no longer tote my program around on a flash drive. I just use foxmarks, and its awesome. I have 5 computers, 2 running windows, and the other 3 running linux, all using foxmarks to keep synchronized.
I tried the del.icio.us add-on for a while, and it worked ok, but I couldn't organize them the way I wanted, and they looked different than normal firefox bookmarks, with too many categories to search through to find the bookmark I was looking for. Luckily, the second add-on I tried was foxmarks. There may be some better bookmarks add-ons out there, but foxmarks works for me, so unless and until there is some compelling reason to add complexity into my life, I will stick with foxmarks.
I use this nifty add-on to sync bookmarks on three computers - a work PC, a home Mac desktop, and my iBook - it's great and is simple to use.
To make things really easy, I started with one bookmark file from my iBook since it was the largest, and overwrote all the existing bookmarks in the other computers. You can merge and edit bookmarks if you want but I wanted to start from scratch. As long as you sync to the server about once a week you're fine.
