The extension works pretty good where many other video downloaders fail (and it's free, unlike others for the same functionability!), so it's highly recommendable.
The things I liked most were that it supports most sites (even streaming sites), and it even allows you to only download the video or the audio parts of the video (it might download it as a weird extension for audio sometimes, but you can just change it to opus and edit it with audacity or other audio editor to get the right file format).
It also will tell you the resolution of the video of the site you are in (when there is one, of course), but it will fetch it only once you are actually playing the video in that resolution.
There were just 2 things that I missed compared to other video downloaders tho...
- Being able to change the name of the video before or after downloading it (You can't choose the name of the video you download, it gets pre-fetched from the site)
- Queueing downloads. You might want to download a few videos in a row some time... and you'd usually not want to have more than 2-3 videos downloading at the same time (AVD just adds each video you choose to download to the downloads list and starts right away, without any option to limit the amount of downloads at a time and download the rest once one download finished).

Our developers are working on new options to make AVD even better. - por FVBryM, el hace 12 díasSe valoró con 5 de 5I'm updating my review from 4 years ago when I gave it a 1 star rating.
This add-on has become one of my go-to download sources since my last review. The speed, number of sites supported, and clarity of settings has improved dramatically! I will say as well that should you come to a site that requires an additional [? plugin] to download a file, IT IS PERFECTLY SAFE.
Kudos to the developer[s] for making this one of the best download add-ons around!!

- por AmbroseCadwell, el hace 19 díasSe valoró con 5 de 5This add-on works for downloading videos from an embedded Vimeo-based source of the sort where you can't reach it via right-clicking or 'inspecting element' etc., the sort that a lot of these sorts of programs miss. Very pleased.
Make sure you click on the 'settings' wheel next to each video that comes up on the list to make sure you have the highest quality version of the video selected before you download- If I'd recommend any changes to the creators of this add-on it'd be to make the highest-quality version e.g. 1080p the default selected when a batch of the same video is detected as a single item like this.Respuesta del desarrollador

Usually the highest quality is selected by default for streaming protocols that support such option. Except the cases when it was imposed directly by the website options. In further version of AVD the quality selection will be available right under the title of detected video without having to select it in the menu. - por Edward Morden, el hace 20 díasSe valoró con 5 de 5This is the most reliable video download utility I have ever used. It works with all sorts of odd video hosting sites and sites that actively try to prevent you from downloading like YouTube. My only complaint is that there is no Linux native app so you can only use this on Windows. Mozilla should do a code review and add this to their list of trusted/recommended apps.

Continuously solving current problems, our developers are simultaneously working on a new cross-platform Native Application that is planned to release in the 5th AVD version. - por Usuario de Firefox 16547653, el hace 24 díasSe valoró con 5 de 5

- por Umair Ahmed, el hace un mesSe valoró con 2 de 5Currently it has issue with forming correct 1:1 output file for sites having formats which divide the files into chunks. At a regular interval there is exactly 2 frames worth of no audio and duplicated video frames. Thus the output produced is always longer than the source, proportional to the duration of the media.
Though it works while playing on low quality sound hardware but is very apparent otherwise. It can easily be observed and analyzed in a video editor.
I had submitted the issue with screens and output file comparison on the support link. But it has been months with no progress or updates. I had to switch at the end.
Thanks for the work though, it really was a great help to me while it lasted :)Respuesta del desarrollador
