Sometimes I wonder if Mozilla is sabotaging Firefox from the inside out on purpose to make it "better" for complete retards, or if they just are in that group of people who can't comprehend such advanced rocket technology as transparency in images on their screen. Excellent add-on, wish I didn't need it but I do.

Very useful and simple add-on indeed, but like SoftGil said, it doesn't work with the Australis interface on the first beta of Firefox 29. That's a real pity, I hope it gets updated soon!

Thank you for the feedback. I have just uploaded an updated version that will work with Firefox 29 and above. It should be fully-reviewed soon and automatically update.

Very good tweak.
I just made a modification to use a checkerboard like in Photoshop instead of a transparent background.

I replaced in resources/transparent-standalone-images/lib/main.js "none" by url('data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAABAAAAAQCAMAAAAoLQ9TAAAAGXRFWHRTb2Z0d2FyZQBBZG9iZSBJbWFnZVJlYWR5ccllPAAAAAZQTFRF////zMzMOOqqgwAAABdJREFUeNpiYIQCBhgYIIEBth4mABBgAEUQAIEfdL0YAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC')

I wanted to do it with useChrome.css as suggested by no luck...

It was great... but easily remedied without it Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

I'll give this a 5 because when it did work it was just wonderful. Nice and light and did the trick, but the same is easily achieved if you edit your userChrome.css and add something similar to: html > body > img.decoded { background: none !important; }

Thank you for the feedback. An updated and fixed version is on the way. If you want to download it early to try it now you can get it from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/235167/transparent_standalone_images-initial.rev28-fx.xpi?src=version-history, otherwise the add-on will update automatically when it passes add-on review.

Worked beautifully... until Firefox 25 Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Returned image functionality to what previous versions of Firefox showed - transparent backgrounds where called for. Unfortunately, with the update to FF25, they're back to having grey backgrounds where transparent ones should be...
Could we get an update to fix this? :)

Useful and beautiful. It makes FX much more functional (centering and transparency) and visually appealing. Should be integral part of FX.

Great, but... Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

First, I'd like to say this SHOULD be native in Firefox - if someone doesn't want their images on transparent backgrounds, they should add the BG themselves. Having backgrounds added to every transparent image is retarded.Having said that, this fixes the issue perfectly. My one complaint for this add-on is that I have to disable then re-enable it every time I start firefox, or it doesn't work. Seriously, this is incredibly annoying.

Very Useful Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

I do a lot of computer created signatures and avatar creations and this is exactly what I needed. Thanks to Jared for taking the time to contact me on how this add-on works. Thank you!

When this add-on is installed, you'll notice it working when you view images that are transparent. Normally Firefox will place a white background behind transparent images, but this add-on removes that background. You can test it out by viewing this image, http://www.elizabethtownfamily.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/African_Elephant_Transparent.png
