  • 谢谢推荐/设计了这个,好棒。
  • The basic function is great.
However, when you restart the Firefox, all gone the names of all of the tab other than the renaming manually, will be replaced in the URL.
    This is very troubled.
I would like to ask the modification.
  • I really appreciate how you can rename the tabs and it is persistent even after reloading the page. There's only one other "Tab Rename" addon that I've considered using and it has less features.

I just want to confirm some of what the other reviews say:

    - this addon does prevent the favicon from loading

    - this addon also has a tendency to cause "Connecting..." to appear as the main title when background javascripts continue to create connections (many pages do this)

Currently the only workaround is to press F2 and then ENTER, which by default reinstates the default tab title. That's a bit of a hassle though.

I'll definitely give 5 stars if these glitches can be fixed! :-)
  • Long enjoyed this wonderful extension. I'm giving it one star however until the catastrophic bug is removed. What happens to some of us is - our tab icons are gone which is super frustrating. How do I know this? I Systematically disabled and re-enabled my extensions to isolate what re-enabled extension might cause my tab icons to disappear again. When it looked like TabRenamizer was to blame I disabled it again to get further evidence. Confirmed. Then I checked google for "tabrenamizer tab icons disappear" and found others had complained about this in Tabrenazer's comments.

I would suggest to the developer that you look at the hookins which might effect tab icons (properly, 'favicons'). Additionally there may be interactions (pretty likely actually) with other extensions which are unfavorable over this issue. People who use tabrenamizer might be likely to have extensions which may deal with similar hookins. What about TabMixPlus (there are I think a few TMP related extensions these days) for instance. But the main thing is just look in to what might directly or indirectly effect favicons in your code. Sorry about the one star - I just want to warn others until this is resolved.
  • 挺有趣的扩展,FF35使用正常。
  • love this AddOn! Great functionality!

BUT: in my FF 34.0.5 (with loads of other AddOns) not working anymore, and causing problems, as described in support-forum ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1041133 )

would LOVE to let it be continued ;-/ (had to disable it now)
have found no alternative to rename Tabs so far.
  • Works as expected except when there is an ndash in the name and you wish to replace it by nothing. See https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=28457 for an example. An n dash is this sign: –
  • Excellent. Please keep updated. Just the thing for annoying people who like to come up behind you and read your tab titles.
  • Works on Firefox v27 but it's bugged - the most noticeable bug is when starting Firefox's session, tabs display their link on their title and not their name.
  • Just does what it's supposed to do : rename a tab. F2 shortcut works like a charm. Great simple addon.
  • Updated the awesome Addon just for me, but like to share with everybody.
All credit still goes to original creator

Please try it from : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabrenamizer2/
  • This WAS good addon, was because it destroying browser layout in newer FF than 3.6. What a pity...
  • Thank you Frustration. I totally agree with you. I love this add-on. Please bring it back!!!!
  • Why do all the best extensions get abandoned while the rubbish ones (or the ones that have hundreds of similar alternatives) carry on being developed?

There is NO other extension that performs this function (all the others only do temporary renames that don't last between sessions) so I have no choice but to carry on using TabRenamizer even though it has a problem that annoyingly causes the loss of tab icons from unfocussed tabs.

If it were not for this one bug, then this extension would be absolutely perfect.

Another indispensable feature bites the dust.
  • PROBLEM: It removes the tab icon in not loaded tabs.
  • I'm using Chinese(trad) version. You can try if you have this problem. I didn't encounter this problem if I disable your addon.
I hope this problem can be fixed!!! This is really an essential addon for me.
    1. Using the tab group, make 3 groups, the first two having 2 different tabs, and the last one having the new tab page.
    2. Close Firefox and then restart it.
    3. Use the tab group and go to the first tab group.
    4. Load all tabs.
    5. Press the tab group button. Then somehow the names of the remaining tab in the second tab group will become the website(www.facebook.com)not the title(Facebook).
    I'm using Aurora 16.0a2, Win XP SP2 x86
I really hope this problem can be fixed. Please help...
Welcome to ask me for further information. thx!
  • FIXED- Unzip contents of xpi file to folder named {792BDDFE-2E7C-42ed-B18D-18154D2761BD} paste folder in 'extensions' folder in profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profilename\extensions) delete xpi file with same name ie. {792BDDFE-2E7C-42ed-B18D-18154D2761BD} from this folder. This works for me. Source: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/796359#answer-326560
  • Just started using it and it works great - allows me to replace all the "Documentation - Puppet Labs" with simple "Puppet" so I can find the right tab easily...
  • Great when really needed.
But too buggy with tab animation.
    Too bad.
  • Please upload the changed version that works with Firefox 9 Beta and above. Thanks!! Use megaupload.com, mediafire.com, etc.
  • This is a great extension.

I've made the package for ff 8.0. I want to contact the author before publishing it. I read that the project is discountinued, maybe I can manage the extension just to create the xpi for newer version of Firefox.
  • I am not sure whether the previously meant; updated ext. will be approved or not by the reviewers, therefore here is a hint how to make this working locally
    for 7.0 and above:

    1. On Win7 find:
    C:\Users\YourProfile\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Your.defaultwithextlisted\extensions\{792BDDFE-2E7C-42ed-B18D-18154D2761BD}.xpi

(On other OS this part of loc. might be the same or similar...:
    Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\Your.defaultwithextlisted\extensions\{792BDDFE-2E7C-42ed-B18D-18154D2761BD}.xpi)

2.Jump into this .xpi (in Total Commander a simple double click), then

    3. edit install.rdf (as you do with a simple text file)

    4. replace the data between the em:maxVersion provosts for 8.* then save&close, 'get out' of archive-view.

    5. After copy {792BDDFE-2E7C-42ed-B18D-18154D2761BD}.xpi to your Desktop and browse for the option:
"Install an extension from a file"
    Browse, etc...

    This should make the trick.
    I got this ext. back.
    Hopefully you all will.
  • firefox doesn't really evolve just get slower and slower, only lose the really helpful add-ons!

I cannot realize what would be behind that it is no longer work under ff7. what changed??
