To make this useful you should really do feature like in "paste to tab & go", where a copied text can be searched by right clicking tab ("paste and search" on context menu) or new tab button/empty tab-bar area ("paste and search on new tab").
Also keyword search on address field, as well as regular search field should open new tab if search activated with ctrl-enter. And it should switch to new tab, depending on settings, shift modifier should reverse (e.g. shift-ctrl-enter opens search in tab and switches to it with default settings, but if in browser settings "switch to new tab" option is selected [mine and many others default) is set then shift will open in background tab),
But what is really needed is "paste to tab and search". And hotkey(s) for them (2nd: "paste to new tab's search and go") would be nice. Customizable, though I know my way with
Brilliant! Should be a feature in FF itself. Another extension showing off the best about Firefox - the add-on system and the endless possibilities for customization, helped along by the many excellent add-on authors. Thanks, Sogame!

I have been a fan of this add-on since I installed it in Firefox 2. I've installed it in Firefox 3 and I think I've spotted an issue. When I type something into the search box and hit enter, the results display in a new tab. But if I click the magnifying glass, results display in the current tab. I don't think that's desired functionality, and I don't think that's how it worked in Firefox 2. Still, I'm leaving it enabled.
I'd been looking for an add-on that does this for some time, and am quite pleased that I finally found one. I'm not quite sure, however, why it didn't work for the other fellow who gave his review, as it work's perfectly for me. Odd.
Currently running Firefox 220.127.116.11 on Windows XP Home SP4
I have installed and tested this, and uninstalled/disabled, tested, and reinstalled, and tested it, and it has never opened a search result in a new tab.
I actually forgot that I had it installed, because it had no affect. It would be the perfect add-on if it did what it was supposed to do, and I still have it installed hoping that there will be a working update.
