RAS has so much packed all under one roof. Like others reviewers, I tried similar addons and they all fell short. RAS just keeps on improving with each release. I recommend all users who like it to try the github version. It has much more features.

5 stars from me. Thank you for this awesome addon, it won me back over to firefox.

This addon not only spoofs the user agent but also the matching headers and it has tons of other features. Keep up the good work.

RAS is the best at what it does. I wasted my time with similar addons until I found RAS. Thank you for this awesome addon. I can't wait for the next release

5 stars! One of my must have addons.

Some features DOES NOT WORK!
Including "Time Zone Spoofing" "Signature" (REAL BROWSER!)
Check with this:

Forget about http://BROWSERSPY.dk/ as the most important "source of information"!
And probably there are many other 'tools'.

Hello deNn

First of all I already have an issue open for the browser signature at ip-check.info . I have tried to manually re-order the headers before sending but it does not seem to make a difference. That may need a patch to the firefox code itself.

Browserspy is not the most important source, I use that for gathering profile information as it has what I need for a profile in one place, rather than send users to 3 or four different websites.

Thanks for reporting the time issue. I will try to have a fix for it soon.

Please report bugs to github in future as it better suited to deal with them.

Very Good Addon Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Really Good Addon, works perfectly since i wrote my last review.
But i have been noticing one problem of late. If i change my user agent to maxthon youtube search results are missing images
"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML like Gecko) Maxthon/ Chrome/30.0.1551.0 Safari/537.36"

Just see for example:

Though for older maxthon versions there is no such problem

Hello a a

The next version has tons of changes , one of which being more up to date profiles. There is no maxthon profiles in the new version. It will be released soon

Importing and exporting User agents? Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

This is an awesome plugin and I'm loving every part of it. I have one question, Can we able to import user agents xmi file on our own?

Thanks in advance!

Hello wow99

I have not added that functionality yet but it is planned in the future.

Thanks for your review

Interesting idea - thank you! Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

It's an interesting idea and seems to work so far in Firefox 31, in very limited testing. Thanks so much for thinking of this and doing it.

A few bugs and suggestions:

* Most of the user agents used by RAS are very rare, such as Epiphany 2.3 on OpenBSD. With that user agent, my browser is easy to uniquely identify, without the use of any additional characteristics. It would be useful if the RAS user could easily narrow the user agents to those currently in wide use. (I know RAS will change the UA, which definitely reduces exposure to this problem.)

* The list of user agents is outdated. For example, on Windows Chrome UAs are 1-3 years old (RAS uses versions 18-33; Chrome's current version is 40), and Firefox UAs are similarly outdated. Again, using obsolete and therefore less common UAs makes users easier to identify than if current UAs are used.

* Unchecking all those boxes one at a time to exclude UAs (e.g., I didn't want any Unix UAs) is slow. An interface to make it quicker would be appreciated.

Thank you for you review. An update to the AMO version is planned soon

Hello guanxi

This version is out of date. The github version has more up to date profiles and more options. Many of the old profiles were removed from the addon. I will add what I can from the github version into an updated limited amo version once I finish the current milestone for

The Github version also has a random option for each platform so you can limit it to Random Window's browsers only for example.

How too install from github ? Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

I want to run the latest version from github.

Would someone please be kind enough to post instructions on how to install Random Agent Spoofer from github.

I got as far as downloading the .zip file but what do I do next.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: 19 Feb 15, I have figured it out now.

Thank you

Hello Mc Fat Tongue. Thank you for you review. I'm glad you got it sorted. There are instructions on the project wiki on github for anyone else wondering how to install the github version

this is the last piece to somewhat online privacy! Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

if you use add ons like ghostery, torbutton, etc. to hide your id and not get tracked by mind-controlling agencies like facebook you individualize your browser more and more...which ironically makes you beeing more and more identifiable via your browser fingerprint. This is the tool to prevent fingerprinting. yesyesyes! Thanks. Donated!!!

PS: One suggestion: I often have the problem that older browser profiels are beeing identified as outdated by the services I use (like googledrive for example). It would be really helpful to have an option for limiting the activated profiles to only up-to-date ones :)

Thank you

Hello spinmytree

Thanks for your review and your donation!

The github version has more up to date profiles. I will add a limited version of it on AMO once I get some of the issues I am currently working on sorted out.

Excellent Addon! Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Perfect - a great contribution to the worldwide community for security and safety. Applause! So much things under one roof...

Thank you

Thanks for the Review Bruce. I'm glad you like it

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

So many other addons which claim to offer similar functionality fall short by only modifying the user agent . RAS does so much more and from my time using it, it keeps on improving with each release.

I would recommend to anyone concerned with browser fingerprinting and privacy to give RAS a try.

Thank you for you work dbyrne, you really did a top job with this addon.

Thank you for your Review

Hello Nikolai. Thank you for your review and support. I'm glad you like the addon

Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

What a great way to protect my privacy! One problem though. I had to exclude iOS and Android, because I'm using a laptop and some pages didn't display correctly. I can also disable geolocation and spoof the accepted language as US English.

Thank you for your review

Hello Haw Creek. The random desktop mode was added specifically to address the issue you mention above. RAS still has lots more features due to come . Thanks for your rating and support

Nice addon, but... Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

I would've posted this over on GitHub, but can't register without credit card details, even if I choose free $0 per month... like, wth...

I am over the moon with this product. It allowed me to remove two other addons that I had, since they were dong a bit of everything.

The only concern I have is, it falls short just the same as FireGloves addon did. I cannot for the life of me get the time zone spoofing or the screen resolution spoofing to work! When I go to Panopticlick or other similar websites, it display the original time zone and screen resolution... regardless if I choose Random or specify an entry.

I have to admit, I am using Cyberfox 64bit version... maybe the above two details are restrictive to 32bit?

Thanks for your review

Hello marzametal. Thanks for your review.

For others reading this we have addressed this issue on github and it was another addon interfering with RAS which was causing the behaviour.

See https://github.com/dillbyrne/random-agent-spoofer/issues/128 for details.

RAS Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Hello, I find this add-on very interesting and could manage to provide you with a French translation, if you send me the corresponding message files... I look forward to hearing from youc soon. Kinds regards.

Thank you for your Rating

Hello IICervo . I have not yet added the underlying code in RAS required for handling translations but I have opened a new issue to do so at https://github.com/dillbyrne/random-agent-spoofer/issues/124

Once that is done I will be easily able to add support for different languages in the user interface of RAS. Its best to post in that issue and you will then be notified when I add the support.

UPDATE. Support for locales has been added. I will add localizations soon and users can suggest corrections to these or submit additional ones too.

A defensive tool against the corporate waged privacy war Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

My Advice to Web Surfers - Go to Dillbyrne's GitHub site. Look for the "Latest release" green button and install that version - it has extra features. Once installed, review all of the powerful privacy assisting options such as canvas blocking, screen res spoofing :) :) :) , and many other great features. Use this excellent tool with other tools such as QuickJava, Ghosterly, AdBlock, etc

My Review and Praise: Dillbyrne is a serious dev who takes privacy as a professional, serious, and energetic endeavor. In the corporate waged privacy invasion/war, there are only a few defensive weapons that are effective enough to give you a measure of privacy. Firefox with Random Agent Spoofer is one of the most effective weapons I have seen to date. I'm a developer with an extensive 45 year successful track record (started in the late 1970's). If I were to write an app that attempts to protect my privacy, RAS is the closest I've seen yet as to how it would function.

Thank you Dillbyrne. btw, I am hooked due to the "spoof screen res" option. I love it mostly because of I cruise the inet using a locked down XP_SP3 VM with a very peculiar screen res. This OS/Res combo is a dead giveaway of uniqueness for trackers. Spoof screen res is what prompted me to create a Moz Profile and write this review. Thank you.

Many Thanks

Hello appopen.

Thank you for the many kind words :) . I'm glad you like the addon. I will continue to keep improving it. I have many more features planned for it.

Thanks for your support!

I want only change user agent to Windows browsers or Mobile browser. It's difficult to exclude each profile

Thanks for your review.

Hello goffervn . I have just finished adding a random option to each platform so you can now select for example Random Windows browsers and it will select from all the non excluded windows profiles only. The new version should be available on github in the next few days. I want to give it a final review before I release it to double check for bugs and typos .

A more limited version will eventually make it onto here. I will have to check with AMO what parts of it will be allowed.

Thanks again for your review and in future please do not request features here on AMO open an issue on the project page on github.
