Such a simple thing, but it makes a world of difference when one occasionally tries to open otherwise-uncooperative files in the browser. I recommend this extension for everyone.

Nothing spectacular but a reasonably useful additional option.

So handy !
Why isn't that included by Firefox ?
Thanks for this great simple add-on.

Does exactly what it promises, is very easy to use, but has two things which are rather irritating. Actions cannot be saved, and I get the popup twice. Going through a list of plain-text .log files becomes a headache.

Great add-on Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

One of the most useful addons out there. Firefox really needs some built-in flexibility regarding MIME types. Until then, please don't let this addon die!

Useful add-on but needs some features Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Very helpful add-on.
But if you can add options window to set the default file type and ability to add custom file mime types would be great.
Also "Do this automatically for file like this from now on." option is greyed out when I choose open in browser so I can't set it as a default action.

This is extremely useful, as it means whenever i download a text file that's not in a .txt format [like a .sql file, for example], I can open it straight away. Great stuff.

Plugin works as expected, thanks!

Very useful, but lacks a few features Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Great add-on, FF should have an interface for setting preferred ways to open files based on their extension. I wanted to open .java with FF as text/plain. But after playing around with mimtypes.rdf, I couldn't succeed - I still got the DL window with "Open with" and "save" and it still displayed the .java file as "JAVA file".
Open in Browser lets me open it in FF as txt, but there should be 2 more features:
1. open in new tab - if I click the .java link in a new tab, it doesn't open the file. Also, even if it did, there's a problem for JS links, which you can't open in new tab.
2. I can't tell the add-on to always open files with a certain extension the way I want.

Overall quite useful and time saving.

Solves annoying problem Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Really helps me with my Firefox at Linux mint OS.
By default, FF tried to open application/json urls like a file. And in my work I extremely need such urls to be open just like text.

One note!
Currently "do this for all files of such type" checkbox is disabled for new option. It's will be very cool if this option could be saved. Because sometimes I use this option 5 times per minute ;-)

Great add-on Puntuado con 5 de 5 estrellas

Great add-on. I use it all the time when servers send files I can display in the browser but with the "wrong" headers.

Unfortunately, the add-on stopped working in Firefox Nightly (version 33). It still shows up but pressing the OK button does not do anything anymore. Can you take a look?

Won't do what I need it to do Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

I'm trying to get a PDF file on my HD to open in a tab in Firefox rather than in Adobe Reader. This doesn't work for that. So far, nothing that I have found does. :o(

Helpful addition to Firefox Puntuado con 4 de 5 estrellas

Only request that I can't see has already been made, is to make this add-on no-restart. Restarting the browser to install an extension like this seems like it should be unnecessary.

*EDIT* Just found something I assumed this add-on could facilitate, also - Open GZIP or ZLIB compressed files in browser, without decompression by separate utility beforehand. Currently when trying to open a GZIP compressed file (without a file extension), the only option this add-on gives is to "View Source", not "[Open in] Web Browser".

Would be great if it could also be programmed to allow the URL and/or file contents to be passed to a specific file via command line (along with other arguments). Would also be great if behaviors could be made site-specific...

Awesome. You can even add your own mimetypes using the "extensions.openinbrowser.additional_mimes" setting.

It would be even better if you could use the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" checkbox with it, though.

Works ok, BUT..... Puntuado con 2 de 5 estrellas

"Open in Browser" works well enough but it would be EVEN BETTER if you were allowed to save your preferences for certain files. For example, I installed this add-on just so I wouldn't have to save every image I wanted to view. But now I have to tell Firefox to open the image in the browser everytime, which is what I was trying to avoid doing in the first place. Hopefully they can fix this in the near future with an update or two.

Very useful!

Feature suggestion: word-wrap. Unfortunately many text files are difficult to read without it (constant horizontal scrolling, back and forth!).

Fills the weird gap in firefox of really obvious and expected functionality: to open something in the browser when you use the browser to open it!
