  • Stopped working

Edit: reinstalling it made it working again. This is amazing add-on, please continue to improve it!
  • blocks all comments, even on polish websites
  • see title
  • Thanks m8.
  • This was one of my favorite add-ons. It's one of the few that shares my desire for comment sections -- get rid of them all.

This was great but now it no longer works on most sites -- at all. This used to work pretty much everywhere (sometimes it would block entire articles as well as -- or instead of -- the comments).

Great add-on, I hope to see it working again.
  • This addon is very useful for people like me, I hate youtube comments as they are pointless and useless (the good thing I can temporarily enable for youtube channels I like) This also blocks blogger comments sections, nice addon ever if I want to read comments again, all I have to do is click on the icon to enable, or right click to whitelist a "haterless" comments section! thnx!
  • Thanks man, really appreciate your efforts. Ur addons helped me to block all hate and useless comments on many news sites :)
  • This is a small. easy to use, well-made add-on. It juts needs some polish - the address bar icon needs to be changed to better tell if comments are on or off - and the ability to specify pages on a host would make it much more useful. It works for me at the moment, but there are times when I'd like to see the comments on certain YouTube channels without having to turn comment blocking off temporarily. Anyhoo...
  • Tried again after a few months, now doesn't work at all on the Guardian, and not on imdb either.
  • Let me start by saying that this add-on does do the job. No comments! That said, it does the job somewhat clumsily. I imagine that it's quite difficult sometimes to determine which content is comments and which is not, but I encountered a fairly high percentage of sites in which basic functionality, like displaying an article or searching, just would not work unless I allowed "comments". In addition it was a pain to tweak settings in any way other than turning it on/off temporarily, on the fly. I had to go into add-ons and then preferences to whitelist/blacklist. The preferences have shortcut settings for right click/middle click that would have alleviated this problem a great deal, but the right click always just brought up a context menu and I don't even have a scroll click on my laptop or mac. It would also benefit from the ability to control things more granularly, which would allow users to work around inevitable targeting mistakes. So I'm trying out other add-ons for now.
You can try out the current beta version, which tries to simplify the white- and blacklist by remembering wether you allowed comments the last time you visited a website.
  • This works pretty well. It certainly hides the annoying Disqus widgets.

My problem is that I've been on sites like Wikipedia where all I do is try to search in the Search bar, there are no and have never been any commenting elements on the page, but I can't hit Enter and be taken to the search results page because of "hidden comment(s)" that I must view, even though there is no such thing.

I'd like if there's a way to disable that but for the time being I can live without this add-on. I did try looking to see if there were support threads for this add-on, but even the add-on's homepage doesn't have any. "See the support section to find out where to get assistance for this add-on." just takes me straight back to this page where the reviews are posted, and I have no idea how to find support for this.

For the record, I got the "You must view..." error message when I tried submitting this review. Yeah. This thing needs to go. Dropping a star for that.
  • After so many years of use, I'm grateful that it still does its job, especially since human's idiocy and libertarian (over liberal) attitudes continue to increase.

Long live un-freedom of speech!! Haahahhaa
  • Works as stated on the tin, blocks comments sections everywhere and you can see them with a single click should you want to.

I got this to remove Discus sections on anime sites that only contain spoilers and memes. Also to remove YouTube comment sections that are a trolls echo chamber. The internet is finally a little cleaner, thanks so much!
  • you intentionally set sites to see comments on because they break with this(social media) and you keep having to enable the comments on these sites. it works but needs some major help.
  • Working 5/5 ^_^
  • superb/супер
  • Wonderful extension.

One thing could be better. When I click on a pic in facebook and it opens the pop-up window thingie, the comments are visible. Any way to fix this?
  • Works great to hide youtube comments section. This speeds up the site quite a bit as well.

A request to the respectable developers: provide customizable keyboard shortcuts for left-click, right-click, middle click action. As a VimFx addon user, I really miss this feature.
  • It never was perfect- but it gave a powerful and much needed function.

Unfortunately the developer is overwhelmed and someone needs to fork this to maintain development. In my limited contact with him he seemed like a decent fellow- but for development to move forwards it probably needs someone else to take over.
  • When I read that it "blocks, or hides, all unwanted comments on websites you visit" I misunderstood this as having some selection criteria to block specific users or commentators. This simply hides the entire comment section on specific pages, which anyone can block simply by not scrolling down to the comments or looking down.

So far as I can find, there is nothing currently available that helps users avoid posts from known trolls while leaving the discussions of interest intact. If this could be expanded to blacklist specific usernames so their posts were either blank or a strike-through font, this would be incredibly popular. It would need to work on comment hosting services like Disqus, YouTube and WordPress, but just those three services would address most of the flame wars out there.
  • I have been using this add-on for quite a while now and it has improved my experience while being on the internet tremendously.

I only have a few issues. I think it could be made more clear how websites need to be entered into the whitelist/blacklist field. I'm used to Leechblock accepting only the domain name and therefore this option didn't work until I've read a user review and the help on the official website until it was clear to me that "*." or "www." needs to prepended for the option to work.

The last suggestion I can make is what the add-on blocks. I understand the developer's reasoning that the internet is so huge and varied in its HTML coding that website-specific hacks would be ridiculous. I haven't looked at the source code but I suspect that the add-on blocks everything that has the string "comment" in a id, name or class attribute. Why not give us the option to maintain a list of our own strings? This would enable the add-on to also block comments on non-English websites, which tend to declare their div-tags in their language.
  • Works flawlessly, exactly as advertised! This great add-on is now a must-have for me.
  • No more YouTube comments. Blood pressure returning to normal. Great job, and thanks.
  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm sick of watching stupid comments in sites like youtube and with this extension is finally possible to block them.
The extension works fine, i have no problems with the browser, everything works cool.
I wish this add-on could do it with the facebook social plugin comments too.
