It is not available for Firefox19... is a new version coming for Firefox 19? Also about PHP, yes it would be nice but it would be quite tricky, as PHP is invisible to the browser... it's a server side tool, not client side... so if it doesn't come, don't be too disappointed, though I think maybe it could be done... it would have to check if the IP address is localhost if not check the localhosts' IP address and check it against the numerical IP address in the URL bar, if there is a match then it would have to check the path from the www folder(or equivalent depending on OS and Server software ie. Apache vs. Cherokee) ... then follow that path to pick up the applicable PHP file, then scan that file for includes of other PHP files (recursively) and inject all applicable code only then could it render a usable PHP file for editing... the includes could be left out but then you'd have to not need to edit those on the fly... also, there is the issue of permissions... would you're browser have permissions to directly access and edit you're PHP files?... So if PHP functionality never happens for this Firefox Add-On, just understand how near impossible it would be to implement and make work on most setups... and don't be too upset about it.
I hope that the modernization for firefox 3.6 arrives soon!
Does not work with php files. Would be a major improvement if it did.
Please consider php for next update. Thanks.
This one is awesome.
I tried Phoenix Editor before this one. It is a nice surprise after Phoenix. Less bugs, more functionality.
I miss only syntax highlighting.
there's no syntax highlighting
there's no edit+preview view
out dated snipets
not supported in php5
Neat addon, but only gets 3 stars for slow compatibility updates, no update to 3.5 at the moment
Firefox 3.5 update is needed.
Looks quite cool but I get no WYSIWYG in my Firefox 3.0.10.. Everything else appears to work.
i really like the setup, but the wysiwyg application of this addon is not working, it seems.
I like it a lot, but just wondering if your going to port it to Seamonkey, since its better than composer, Seamonkey could be compiled without composer and then just add the plugin :)
fantastic absolutely brilliant i was looking for a dreamweaver clone and since this is free perfect, also the following addons (free) complement this addon:
- fireftp (ftp)
- firebug (console)
It edits fine as far as I can see, but there is just no documentation - you have to work everything out for yourself. And, as far as I can see, you have to use Fire FTP to upload your changed pages. But, nowhere does it say that. Kompozer is just so easy to use, is well documented and does all the file transfer. A little bit of work to set up a couple of pages of documentation, and a link into Fire would go a long way to making this more useable.
Just playing with it now in FF3. Very nice. Thanks.
its great and it works well but some syntax highlighting would definitely be brilliant
This is a great piece of software. If you know how to use Frontpage, Expression Web or any visual/code editor then you'll know how to use Codetch. The best feature of Codetch is.....edit a page, or a site on the fly!!! This is a niche that sorely needed filled.
If I could I'd give it more than five stars
-I have no ties to Codetch what-so-ever
Great very useful you can practically forget about ide's like eclipse.
Maybe get codetch to open in a new tab and not its own window and add syntax highlighting and it would be amazing. Till then integration with Scintilla Scite works good enough.
i tried codetch and...
1 - we are in 2008, and you wrote in 2007 and 2008
2 - css is about 2000
3 - here i see people writing how good codetch is
4 - codetch suggest/support/encourage inline styling and other things... , ... and (many) other ones
5 - codetch has not css syntax hi-lighting, and as far as i can see, no css support at all
6 - i removed it, terrible waste of time and patience
7 - where did i turn up?
Excellllente initiative, mais incompatible avec FF3.
Ca n'est pas une critique, FF3 vient de sortir!
Mais c'est pour le signaler clairement car on peut quand même l'installer!
Hi, did you translate the description on AMO with Google? Google is lame on English to Chinese translating, I would like to help provide a more proper one:
功能類似 Dreamweaver 的 Firefox 擴充套件，在你翱遊網路時隨時可編輯網頁！
功能类似 Dreamweaver 的 Firefox 扩展，在你翱游网路时随时可编辑网页。
feel free to use it on AMO! :)
I have to disagree with oddjobz. It does install and run on FF2. I have found it useful and a time saver for light to moderate development work (I have to admit that I am still relying on another suite of tools for heavier jobs).
I have found that the "float" mode and "tab" mode do not work exactly the same. When in tab mode, I wasn't able to use tab indents in my code. That was my only disappointment as I found it to be a great time saver working within FF and being able to switch between my browser and my editing tool.
It\'s not compatible with FF V3 and it doesn\'t install on the current release of FF2 .. so it\'s usefulness is rather limited (!)
It will take some time to master the extensive functionality of this amazing addition to the Gecko family, but... my first thought was O! M! G!!
Check it out. You have to at least check it out.
