Clippings collects web page text that you select for the purpose of giving you the ability to paste it later into web page forms. As a user, you have full control over what data you want to save, and you have the ability to add, modify or delete it.

The data that is saved by Clippings is stored in an IndexedDB database located in your Firefox profile folder. Your Clippings data is NEVER sent to its creator/maintainer or any third party service, and ABSOLUTELY NONE of your data you choose to save in Clippings is shared for marketing, statistical analysis, user surveillance or any other purpose.

If you choose to turn on the Sync Clippings feature[1], a subset of your Clippings data will be shared with the companion Sync Clippings Helper application for the purpose of saving that data into a local sync file on your system, so that your data can synchronize with other installations of Clippings that you want to sync with. Turning on the Sync Clippings will require installing the Sync Clippings Helper, which you, as the user, must initiate. You have full control over the data you want to synchronize (i.e., by placing the desired sync data into the "Synced Clippings" folder via Clippings Manager or the New Clippings dialog), the location of the sync file, and which installations of Clippings you want to sync your data with. Note that if the sync file is stored in a folder on your system that is managed by a third-party file synchronization service, such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, the Sync Clippings data would be subjected to the Privacy Policy of the respective file sync service.
