TabTrace is a browser extension for developers that reads the visible text content of your active browser tab and sends it securely to the Code Assist desktop application running on your own computer. The two work together over your local network — no data ever leaves your device.

What it does

When you enable tracking in the popup, TabTrace captures the text content of the page you are on and forwards it to Code Assist, where AI processes it and provides assistance directly on screen. You remain in full control at all times — tracking is off by default and activates only when you explicitly enable it.

Code Assist Controller

Code Assist includes a companion controller interface accessible from any phone or tablet on your local network via QR code pairing. From this controller you can manage TabTrace remotely — toggle tracking, clear captured content, and switch which browser is active.

Privacy

TabTrace does not transmit any data to external servers. Everything captured stays on your own machine. No account is required inside the extension itself.
