How it works:
The file is built in your browser, straight from SoundCloud. Nothing goes through any other server. The add-on only asks for access to soundcloud.com and sndcdn.com (SoundCloud's CDN), and for storage to keep your filename format.

SoundCloud now serves most tracks only as AAC. The add-on decodes it with your browser's own decoder and encodes it to mp3 with lamejs. A box in the bottom right corner shows the progress. It takes about 7 seconds for a 4-minute track and 90 seconds for an hour-long mix (measured in Firefox on a MacBook Pro M5 Pro).

Good to know:
⚠ One track at a time. No playlists or albums.
⚠ SoundCloud streams AAC at 160 kbps. The add-on encodes it to mp3 at 320 kbps to lose as little as possible in the second encoding. Tracks SoundCloud still serves as mp3 are saved as they are.
⚠ SoundCloud has started locking some tracks behind DRM. Those can't be downloaded by this or any other extension. You get a clear message rather than a broken file.
