Sobre esta extensión
Privacy & OPSEC 🔒

OnionGo is designed around minimizing unnecessary data collection and keeping configuration local. It gives you a convenient way to use a Tor-based search endpoint without adding a bunch of extra services or telemetry to your new tab page.

OnionGo does not claim to make your overall browsing activity anonymous or secure by itself. Your privacy still depends on how Firefox/LibreWolf, Tor, your network, and the websites you visit are configured and used.

Setting up the Onion Service

The Onionize feature requires your browser to be able to access .onion addresses through Tor. LibreWolf can use the feature when Tor is configured as the browser's proxy and .onion routing is enabled.

In LibreWolf or Firefox, check the advanced preference:

network.dns.blockDotOnion

For the DuckDuckGo onion service to work, this preference may need to be set to False in about:config. When enabled, Firefox blocks normal DNS handling for .onion domains to help prevent accidental DNS leaks; turning it off allows .onion addresses to be handled by the browser's configured Tor/proxy connection instead. Mozilla support has documented changing this preference to False when accessing .onion addresses.

Important: setting network.dns.blockDotOnion to false does not provide Tor by itself. You still need a properly configured Tor connection/proxy. Make sure .onion traffic is actually routed through Tor rather than relying on the preference alone.

Other Firefox-based browsers may use the same preference, although availability and behavior can vary by browser version and configuration.
