iShield for Firefox processes the information required to provide browser protection locally on the user's device.
To block ads and trackers and provide phishing, scam, malware, fingerprinting, cosmetic-filtering, and related protections, iShield may locally inspect the current page URL or hostname, network-request information exposed by Firefox, and limited page content needed for those protection features.
Settings, allowlists, protection modes, local blocking counters, activity information, and verified filter-update state are stored in Firefox extension storage on the user's device.
iShield does not transmit browsing history, visited URLs, page content, search terms, form content, names, email addresses, account credentials, cookies, authentication information, device identifiers, installation identifiers, advertising identifiers, extension usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports to Broxme.
iShield does not require an account.
The only extension-initiated remote connection is a generic HTTPS GET request to:
https://update.broxme.com/ishield/manifest.json
This connection is used only to retrieve signed filter/network-rule updates. iShield adds no browsing information, account identifier, device identifier, installation identifier, telemetry, cookies, credentials, request body, or tracking identifier to the request.
As with an ordinary HTTPS connection, the network infrastructure serving the update may necessarily process connection-level information such as an IP address and standard HTTP/browser networking metadata. iShield does not use that information as an identifier or for analytics, advertising, or profiling.
Filter updates contain data only. iShield does not download or execute remote JavaScript, WebAssembly, or other remote executable extension code. All executable extension code is packaged with the Firefox add-on.
The Firefox release of iShield does not run in private browsing windows.
iShield does not sell user data, share browsing data for advertising, inject affiliate tracking, or create remote profiles of users or their browsing activity.
Removing iShield causes Firefox to remove its extension storage according to Firefox behavior.
