Better GLM adds power tools to chat.z.ai while keeping every byte of your data on this device:

Hidden system prompt, sent on a schedule you choose (first message, every message, or every N-th).
Skills: reusable instruction blocks you switch on or off.
Quick commands with a "/" palette in the message box.
File creation: model-authored files become inline download cards in the chat, and are collected in the panel with individual download and .zip export.
Memory: durable facts stored locally and re-sent with the hidden context.
Peak-hours auto-retry: auto-dismisses the busy dialog and resends your message with backoff (never switches your model).
Agent session tools: workspace status and restart for agent/intern chats.


Privacy & data

Everything (settings, prompt, skills, commands, memory, generated files) is stored only in browser.storage.local on this device. There are no accounts, no analytics and no telemetry. The extension runs only on chat.z.ai. Its only network calls are the site’s own API endpoints using your existing login session: one read-only chat-detail request to check for an agent workspace, and one restart request when you click Restart. "Copy diagnostics" writes to your clipboard only when you click it.

How the hidden context works

Right before a message is sent, the context is appended to the message box so chat.z.ai itself signs and stores it like normal typing; it is then hidden from the rendered chat. If that fails, the extension falls back to adding a system message to the request. It never touches authentication headers, URLs or the site’s signature fields.
