How It Works

At the same time, it solves a practical problem in my personal homelab environment by simplifying the process of sending YouTube videos to a self-hosted MeTube instance. Instead of manually copying and pasting video URLs into the MeTube web interface, users can add videos to the download queue with a single click.
The extension only reads the URL of the active YouTube tab when the user explicitly clicks the extension button. The URL is then sent to the MeTube server configured by the user. No analytics, telemetry, tracking, or third-party data collection is performed.
