Sobre esta extensión
Shortens the page you are on – with one click in the toolbar.
What sets this apart from the extensions of the well-known providers is not the feature, it is who reads along: this extension talks to exactly one address – your own flatlink server. There is no provider behind it learning which pages you shorten.
WHAT IT DOES
• Shorten the current tab's address; name and custom code optional
• Add tags and an expiry date right away
• Recognises a page you have shortened before and shows the existing short link instead of creating a second one
• Copy the short link with one click
• A QR code to scan – the quickest way from screen to phone; save it as a PNG if you like
• Keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+K, freely reassignable in the browser
• One click on to your server's QR designer – colours, shapes, logo and print files (PDF, EPS, CMYK)
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
• No reading page contents, no injecting scripts into pages
• No connection to any address other than your own server
• No analytics, no identifiers, no background process
PERMISSIONS
• "Active tab": the address of the tab you click the icon in – only then, only that one
• "Storage": address and API key, deliberately in this browser's local storage rather than in sync
REQUIREMENTS
Your own flatlink server (github.com/HerrBarmann/flatlink) and an API key from your profile there. The quickest way to set it up is a pairing code: generate it on your server, paste it here.
Available in English and German; the extension follows your browser's language.
The extension's source is five files of some 600 lines – readable in an afternoon: github.com/HerrBarmann/flatlink
