Phoenity Shredder

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

nice to see this great-looking theme updated for TB 5.0 - thanks! vivid color scheme & contemporary graphic simplicity for the icon set are its strength. In just a few of cases the icons are almost a bit too simple and ambiguous, but familiarity overcomes this. only weak element for me is, and remains, the throbber - a pulsating blue square - meh.

**sigh** I guess we're never going to see this beautiful theme updated for TB 3.* Too bad, would easily be my favorite.

With Mr Tech Toolkit extension I got this theme to work with FF3.5.8. The 3D graphics on the toolbar & bookmark icons are handsome, and this theme works well with Personas. I like all the bauhaus-inspired themes by Tin_Man & Dempsey, and each have their strengths. Wish one of these folks would take a crack at Thunderbird again:D

Compact Menu 2

this add-on has become an indispensable part of my FF-TB experience. With T-bird 3.0 released & FF 3.6 coming, need to update!!

Toolbar Buttons

update works fine so far with FFox 3.5, but some of my favorite buttons for TBird, like Tools Menu and Themes, don't function with TB 2.0.0.23. I will stick with version 0.6.0.5 for TBird for now.

The Extra Dimension

whatever hesitancy before with giving this extension 5 stars is gone - a really useful interface that displays option effects instantly for quick evaluation and adjustment. A handsome range of options and effects, too. If "i Plastic" and "Modern Pinball" are gone for good, perhaps future versions could incorporate complete look of those themes in the option settings?

I Plastic

Over the last month or so I have developed a real fondness for this one. Though I occasionally change themes from among several other new and older 'modern graphic' designs, this is the one that I return to again and again. It has replaced 'Modern Pinball' (thanks, Ledrug) as my favorite. Hope to soon see the slick icon graphics show up in the menus, to go with the "hover" effect. Hard to believe this theme is still "experimental".

Modern Pinball for Firefox 3

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

the return of a familiar friend! one of the very best of the minimalist graphic themes is back, with the striking icon set, elegant colors, and the "dimpled" 3-D texture that provides some tactility. Not compatible with AnyColor, but does allow Personas to tweak the background.
Hope to see the theme get revived for Thunderbird as well.

Thunderbird Biff

hesitate to criticize extensions because people mean well, but I regret ever attempting this one. It is too convoluted and involved in the installation process. But the worst result has been the loss of the neat Thunderbird feature of providing preview text boxes on the desktop of incoming new emails. even after deleting this extension from all Mozilla programs, the function has not returned, and I'm faced with re-installing T-bird to purge its effects on new message alerts.

Ought to consider offering this version for FF3.5 - the 3-D appearance has its appeal. Not sure how I feel about losing the Bauhaus-alphabet icons - they are a part of the original Modernist inspiration for the design.

Two Dimensions (syscolor)

Ledrug's themes all contain imaginative ideas, consistent graphics and attention to detail. His timely updates to tighten the look and usefulness reflect his care and interest. A '4' only because the latest updates have caused the 'file folder' tab style to look a bit squiggy between adjacent tabs when multiple ones are open. Otherwise a great theme made all the better by the use of 'The Extra Dimension' extension to customize it.

The demise of FF2 retired one of the best light themes there was - Johannes Schellen's Modern Pinball. This theme, I Plastic, comes as close as any to matching Pinball's clean graphics and sculpted look. Nice start! Look forward to future menu tweaks.

We need designers like Ledrug to tackle the paucity of good themes on Thunderbird.

The Extra Dimension

version 0.16: adds more customization options for the bookmarks toolbar. A '4' this time as 0.16 loses some graphic functionality in the location bar.

What is happening for about the last 3 updates is that, when there are multiple open tabs, the selected (or current) tab and its right-hand neighbor lose their file-folder shape and merge (the beveled tab edge disappears, replaced by a vertical 'joint' between the 'close' symbol of the current tab and the icon of the adjacent one). An unsightly and distracting tick for an otherwise attractive theme.

nice feature for a theme developer to offer some customization to their default theme! A suggestion: how about some options for the default throbber?

finally! - I love and use the Bauhaus theme for Firefox and looked forward to a version for T-bird. Obviously, there are areas to work on - the Calendar function is buggy and needs icons, for example, but I'm using it anyway. I am tired and bored with most of the other themes being offered. Thanks!

Vista Mail

Very handsome and professional looking, with beautiful icons - perhaps the best of Thunderbird's rather limited dark category themes. A major distraction, however, is the pink (or magenta) highlight color - seems very out of place for such a "techy" theme. Might I suggest something in the Cyan, Teal, or Gold range? Or, allow some option to adjust this color.
