My Reviews

Site Searcher

Almost perfect... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great
suggested tweak: position cursor in search field when new window is opened.

Youtube Subscription Checker

Great but needs some more functions Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Love this for seeing what is updated in channels I like. However, it would be much more useful with a few tweaks:
1) The list of subscriptions should be sortable, alphabetical sort would be helpful.
2) There should be a dismiss button so new videos can be removed from the list without opening them.
3) option for smaller thumbnail size would be nice.

How about an overlay icon to remove the item? That would be very obvious.

Youtube Subscriptions Grid

needs proper name in install.rdf Rated 5 out of 5 stars

install.rdf has this line:

<em:name>better-youtube-subs</em:name>

Should be: <em:name>Youtube Subscriptions Grid</em:name>

Column Reader

Needs small nav menubar icon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works very well.
Needs a small icon for the navigation menubar.

update: I don't know how to reply. The icon is visible now but I've also rebuilt the prefs from scratch. Thanks for your response.

Blacken

Great idea - flawed implementation Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Blacken works wonderfully EXCEPT the script tends to hang on complex pages and/or multiple pages opened at the same time.
It needs to be optimized for speed.

ThunderStats! Your Thunderbird Statistics!

(Renamed) Good, almost great. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

"You found the very first listing, when the addon was just released..." Wrong. This is the fifth time this extension has been in the "recently updated" report. Limited rating to 3 stars because you deleted the review after replying with sarcasm. You didn't need to put it here for testing. You could have sent the xpi to people.

My initial post was out of frustration with insufficient descriptions. Maybe somebody from Mozilla deleted it. They should stick to making software. I apologize for snapping at you.

I prefer ThunderStats!'s information and Mail Summaries' color scheme.

Ideas to increase legibility:

Use account overview page, not a separate tab.

Reduce overall vertical size; overviews should not have scrollbars on laptops - investiagate dynamic spacing. Reduce visual clutter; use color or position whereever possible, not both. Choose scheme with more complimentary colors. Reduce color count. Always use dark font on light background. Add total, yearly, and monthly time span tabs. Remove dark blue and reduce height of tabs. Center quadrant titles.

Top quadrants: Increase left/right borders inside quadrants; contents too close to borders. Current axis labels are too dominant; reduce them. Swap contents of upper quadrants. Label today's mail bar chart with clock time or day/evening/night and reduce color count to sent/received. Words "Sent" and "Received" should be in appropriate color, not swatches with black labels. I do not see any usefulness for vertical inbox date bar chart; enlighten me.

Bottom quadrants: Remove colors from charts. Add thin horizontal line between lines 5 and 6 of columns 2 and 3.

QuickJava

Great function but GREEN means go, NOT blue... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on. It plays well with NoScript. Only complaint is the color scheme which uses red for disabled and blue for enabled.Green should be the color of enabled. Maybe this is a default color coming from Firefox. If that's the case, override it. At least make this an option...

-- update --

Thank you for your quick, informative reply. Looking at it now, my initial response was too influenced by frustration. I did not know about red/green colorblindness confusion. I suppose that's one reason traffic lights are stacked. There must be many signal situations such as multi-color LEDs which cause problems. I'll research this some more to be more accomodating in my own designs.

Wappalyzer

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great addon. My earlier comment was based on misunderstanding the optional setting to choose between a toolbar icon or inserting all the icons for detected components in the URL bar.

Identity Chooser

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

1.9 prevents sending replies from Thunderbird 31.6.0, at least that is the effect on our installations. 1.8.8 works properly.

Fire IE (FireIE, Enhanced IE)

Almost perfect Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Fantastic functionality. Properly supports NoScript and AdBlock. Please add:

1) right-click context menu item to open link in new IE tab.
2) right-click context menu item to open link in IE (as external browser)

Greenhouse

Good idea - needs work Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Pro: Works
Pro: Helpful
Con: Requires access to allaregreen.us and googletagservices.com - Glad I use a goodVPN
Con: Tested on thehill.com and the popup's right edge is truncated - minor issue
Con: Tested on Breitbart.com and no links or popups are shown
Con: Tested on thehill.com and required thehillcom's scripts to be allowed or the popup had a transparent background
Suggestion: Toggles to insert inline icons next to the names. Look at the way stock symbols have this data on some sites.
Suggestion: Embed example.php, don't force a call to allaregreen.us

Auto-Sort Bookmarks

no working w/ FF28 win7 x64 Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Grrr...Seemed to work on earlier versions, then was broken, then fixed, now broken again.
Does this work with FF28Win7x64 for other people?

Patch to Alert Invalid Addresses

Broken on 24.0.1 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Did this work in the past? I don't know. I had it loaded and there was never a complaint. However, I DO know it will prevent Thunderbird 24.0.1 Windoze from sending email. Disable/remove it if you want to run 24.0.1.

Don't Send Linked Files

Doesn't work Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Does nothing on FF22 Windoze.

Map This

works well, obscures web pages Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works as described and is small.

However, it adds styling around the addresses which covers up parts of the source web page. Frequently covers up phone numbers and other important text around addresses.

ImportExportTools

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Confirmed: duplicate folder name issue exists with all versions of ImportExportTools even if it is the only add-on enabled.

QrCodeR

Suggestion for saving image Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Please add a link to the displayed image. When the user double-clicks on the image it would be loaded as a page. From there, the user can right-click and "save image as".

CommentBlocker

won't whitelist google.com part deux Rated 4 out of 5 stars

your listed email address isn't working.

I'm using Win7 x64 and x32 SP1, FF 13.0.1, CommentBlocker 3.0.4

google.com is being ignored by whitelist

The text you chose for the prompt for entry into the whitelist is "URL".

Your reply on mozilla's site stated the entries should be domains.

Suggest you change the prompt and include an example in the prompt.

CommentBlocker

won't whitelist google.com Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I generally like this a lot but it won't accept http://www.google.com or https://www.google.com in the whitelist. You can add them, yes, but CommentBlocker happily ignores those entries and blocks some parts of the page by default. The part it blocks MUST be enabled for Google.com to work properly.

TweeQuilla - Twitter for Thunderbird

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

New Account Types 14.0 breaks TweeQuilla. Fix needed for TweeQuilla.
