Easy to Install and Use and Works Well For Smaller Lists Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For mailing lists of 50-250 addresses, this works perfectly and a great solution over using a 3rd party service or trying to setup PHPList or some other server-side mailer.

It's an easy multi-step process. Install the Add-on. Compose the message adding per-recipient customizations. An easy one is to just change a generic "Hi," to "Hi {{FirstName}},"

Save the message as a Draft, but before closing it, choose File -> Mail Merge. It'll go through and create an unsent message for each recipient listed, looking up the replacement values in the address book (default) and doing the swap. So since the messages are now created and residing in the Outgoing folder, can inspect them for a final sanity check before sending.

To send the messages, click File -> Send Unsent Messages. It will churn through them sending each one individually, which creates a copy of the message in the Sent folder.

It's just that simple, really. Seriously, if you only have a dozen to 50-or-so people to send to, use this vs trying to setup something on a server or using a 3rd-party service.

FYI, it takes a while to send individual messages using this process, but it also takes a while using other solutions. The difference is you do not have to baby sit through the compiling/sending but it's not instantaneous either way.

Works: for bulk sending emails Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This add-on doesn't look so fancy: You need to read the instruction to get to know how this works.
I just needed to simple bulk sending so I didn't have much problems. It wasn't really practical when I had to learn a lot to get what's really handy, but it already did the job so I guess this is great!

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It's a really great tool, but it has some glitches, it seems. I just tried to create a mail to several friends in an address list of the adress book. I referenced a custom field, but the contents of that field weren't always included. There is no way to figure out why it was left out for some of the records.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on. I knew what the add-on was supposed to accomplish, and it took me less than 5 minutes to start using it. I use the CSV file option and it's easy to use and does what I need. This add-on is a must-have for me.

Works great with mail merge using a csv file Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have run the mail merge with 50 to 1000 email within a CSV file and it works great. I have created templates using HTML and created emails with these templates and everything works great. We have a winner.

Great Concept Hard To Use Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I gave this a try and had trouble. If there is a bad email in the list it stops in the middle of your list and it is difficult to determine where. So unless you are sure your list is clean this is not the best product to use.

как работать с csv Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent Add on to do mail merge to email Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I used the link to a CSV file which allowed huge flexibility. It's a must to have it go to Send Later because you can preview and see all your own mistakes before sending.

In a word: Superb! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A simple and effective utility that works. I had some difficulty setting up the initial configuration, and the developer answered my emails promptly and courteously, with clarification pitched at my level of understanding. Five well-deserved stars, and well worth the donation.

Great! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's Great, thanks a lot.
Now I only have to find the easier way to insert in the text the characters { and }. It will be wonderful if variables could be selected by a menu.

Perfect addition to Thunderbird and great support from the developer Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on does what it promises: make email merges simple and intuitive. No difficult installation or technical settings required, just easy to configure personalized messages to a predefined list of recipients. When I experienced some difficulties (due to my own account settings) the support from the developer was quick and thorough, which solved my problems rapidly.Full five stars from me!

Almost Excellent Rated 4 out of 5 stars

A really usefule Add-On. Don't want to miss it, but I've got trouble with S/MIME. I can't send any message with a digitaly signature.

excellent addon, one issue Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a very useful addon, thank you. There is one issue (on Windows) with non ansi characters. no matter if the csv is in ansi or utf8, if the csv contains non latin characters ( greek for example ) they will be displayed as question marks in the Title field of the email. I tried both settings ( UTF8 / Windows-1252 ) to no avail. I also tried both encodings in the CSV file. This seems to be a bug.

Must have add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Must to have add-on which makes Thunderbird as comprehensive and capable email program for sending out many customized letters at once.
In case you experience some trouble with umlauts in sent emails just try with different encoding mode in add-on options (UTF-8 or Windows-1252/ANSI). For example when you download CSV from Google Spreadsheet it's in UTF-8, so you should set Mail Merge encoding accordingly. When you open that file with MS Excel all umlauts are messed up and shown öö etc. though. Don't let you bother from it. See how it looks with Notepad. And, most certainly, makes sure how it look in email by sending some test letters to your own address(es).
Of course there are odds and ends which can be better but definitely an add-on worth donation.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Merci Beaucoup
Thanks a lot

Easy to Accidentally Send Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It works well. One problem is that it is very easy to click "Send" instead of File/MailMerge after entering your list of recipients. This leads to the embarassment of an email with {{FieldNames}} rather than the fields values.

Is it possible to prompt for Send if the email contains {{Field}}s?
