Zoom Page WE

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Version 5.2 to 7.1 all say they will work for FF 51.0 and later. When I tried 7.1 it did not work. I am using FF 56.0. The strange thing is that Mozilla addons thinks I am using FF 50.0 and gives me this warning:

This add-on requires a newer version of Firefox (at least version 51.0). You are using Firefox 50.0.

So I am using Version 5.1 and it works correctly.

Just installed it and it is working great so far. Linux and Android, FF56.

NoSquint Plus

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

FF56, Linux. The zoom functions don't work any differently than native zoom. Don't know about the other features, I don't use them. I used the old NoSqint for years, loved it, but, unfortunately FF made changes that broke it. I will have to try some others.

SiteLauncher

OS or FF version? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

In my last review I said Sitelauncher didn't work anymore in Kubuntu. I failed to mention that I had failed to turn off automatic updates in FF, so I have FF 55.0.4. So Sitelauncher doesn't work in Kubuntu 14.04 or 16.04 in FF 55. I turned on Windows today and Sitelauncher is working just like it has for several years. That's Windows 7 SP 1, FF 54.0.1 (had auto updates turned off, already). I don't know if it is the different OS's or the different versions of FF that's causing the problem (or the new Sitelauncher install instead of upgrade in FF 55), maybe a combination of two or all of those. Personally, I think the main culprit is FF with these new, unnecessary changes. Sorry about blaming Sitelauncher as the sole contributor when it may not be the problem at all.

SiteLauncher

Was Five Stars, Then Four, Now Zero Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I've been using SiteLauncher for years and it was great. When I first started using it I could use an upper case letter for one shortcut and lower case for another, 52 shortcuts without touching the mouse! Then there was an update, only 26 shortcuts without the mouse, upper and lower case were the same. Never could change the hotkeys, they just didn't work if changed to something else. I could live with that. It was still a great speed dial (I couldn't find another one that worked at all). Then I decided to try the latest Kubuntu LTS upgrade, which I hate almost as much as Windows 10. I loaded it up as a separate OS so I could still use the older version but when I installed a new version of Sitelauncher it would not work! Since then I messed up my older OS due to too much experimentation so Sitelauncher doesn't work at all now. It seems to work, even imports my saved shortcuts, but when it closes it's permanent. All I get when I try to open it is a small square of my chosen Sitelauncher color. I didn't like most of the changes that I hadn't seen because I wasn't a new user (until recently, again) anyway. Sitelauncher is broke, doesn't work on Kubuntu anymore. I'm back to the old bookmarks method, again. R.I.P. Sitelauncher, you had a good run.

Works like it's supposed to. Unlike some others.

Dictionary (Google™ Translate) Anywhere

This does not work on my Android tablet. If it is written specifically for other platforms it should say so in the description and save us the wasted time and effort to discover it ourselves.

Works on Android as described.

This is a good example of why the description of add-ons should include which devices it was written for. This does not work on Android devices without an external keyboard as there is no way to right click.

Limited Use Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It works if the only searches you want are using the search engines already there. I can find no way to rename the Custom Searches and no way to add more than those three. There is no longer any options for colors or amount of transparency. It's a bare-bones version of the old D&DZs.

Provider for Google Calendar

Purpose? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I fail to understand the need for this. Lightning already syncs with Google calendars. I've bee using Lightning for years and never needed this addon for Lightning to sync with Google calendars.

Forecastfox (fix version)

It seemed to disappear with the update to FF53.0.2 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It didn't disappear, it just turned into a tiny icon on the URL bar (everything bar?) with the temperature in a bright, unreadable yellow, or was it green?, that hid the icon. I discovered that was it, have to click the icon, no more display on the add-on bar (using CTR for years), had to revert to version 2.4.8 to get it back. I hope version 4.1 provides the functionality and options I am used to, if I'm still using FireFox in November. Mozilla just keeps on taking away more options with a lot of the updates, I'm thinking of going back to Seamonkey. Maybe try PaleMoon, if it will download correctly this time. Firefox is turning into Chrome and I don't like Chrome.

AniWeather

Crapware Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I've been using forecastfox for years but they just "improved" it by making it less configurable and doing away with showing the simple forecast in the status bar, now it's an icon like all the rest of them. So I searched for another addon that's similar to forecastfox (before the "improvements"). All I could find was this one. I tried it years ago and it didn't work right then, but it's the only one I can find that's still like what I'm used to. Except it still doesn't work right. So I guess we're all stuck with having to click an icon just to see the temperature. Oh well, it's just another "improvement" that reduces our options.

Qwant for Firefox

Excellent For Awhile Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Excellent search engine. This addon is not multiprocess compatible so will not work in a few more months when Mozilla forces the change to multiprocess and disables all extensions that are not compatible. Needs update for multiprocess.
