1) KeeFox constantly screws up my FF toolbars. I'm sick of having to reconstruct them on a daily basis. so KeeFox had to go (and will stay off my boxes).
2) In addition, I'm sick of trying to make KeePass and KeeFox work together under Linux. I tried everything - different versions of plugins, compiled them, tried the KeePass version for Linux as well as the Windows Portable with mono... everything I could come up with and
I've just reached the point where I tried so much that I have to say it doesn't make sense to try further. I'm done with this addon (in addition, as the KeePass integration into a Linux GUI is really bad, I'm done with that too.)
From now on, I'll use KeePassX. That means I have to copy&paste user data by hand - but because KeePass and KeeFox didn't work, I'm used to that anyways.
This Addon doesn't show where the booksmark duplicates are, but just which URL with which title is a duplicate.
So you never know which bookmark in which folder you'll be deleting, which will just make a mess out of ones collection.
I won't give it more than one star until that oproblem is fixed because that feature is crucial.
I used this Addon for years on Windows boxes (XP, now 7) and it always worked flawlessly - thus KeeFox would have really deserve five stars. Would.
I'm giving it only one star because it doesn't work at all on Linux (currently Debian 7.2 here). I did try everything I could find in the forum - (re-)installing the complete mono package, trying different mono versions, using KeeFox 1.2.3 instead of the current 1.2.7 and whatnot - everything failed to work. The problem seems to be that there is simply no plugin for KeePass (currently 2.24) which actually does work.
So on Linux, I'm bound to switch to KeePass, copy the username, switch back to Firefox, paste it, switch back to KeePass, copy the password, switch back to FF again and paste a second time. Which means that at the moment, _I_ am doing all the work I installed KeeFox for in the first place. So please either supply a KeePassRPC plugin which actually works.
Or even better: Assemble a decent documentation how to make KeeFox work so one doesn't have to dig through the forums for hours, just to stumble over possible solutions by chance.
Proper documentation is an indispensable and integral part of good coding. Please stop being one of the many idiots who fail to understand this fundamental principle or choose to ignore it.
If this addon intends to force me into not using security measures, I intend not to use this addon.
Simple as that.
One star given only because zero stars aren't possible.
Ireally like this addon, works flawlessly for me.
Albeit I'prefer to have a toolbar button which I can put wherever I choose to instead of the grey icon in the lower left corner.
That's why I only rated four stars, because the flexibility to be able to put icons where _I_ want them to have is a must, especially with software like e.g. Firefox.
Anything else contradicts the fundamental concepts of FF & Co.
Works great so far!
One question: I'd also like that a Video loads, but doesn't start if I open a new Video in a background tab. Would that be possible?
I'd prefer to get rid of the "Desktop" option in the context menu entry. I'd like to have just the folders which I've set and an (optional) "Save As..." entry at the bottom which opens the normal Save As-dialog.
Is that possible to configure somehow?
Tried out with FF20.0.1 and I would have awarded 0 stars if that would be possible.
As soon as I had the Addon installed, I couldn't download any pictures anymore. After right-clicking on a pic and selecting "Save as...", nothing happened. No download, no dialog, nada.
So I deactivated the Addon, restarted FF and... guess what? Exactly.
I tried multiple pictures from different locations, with the Addon as well as without, the results were the same every time - no can do with the Addon, works flawlessly without.
So my verdict is: Save time and energy by NOT installing this junk.
If I open FF (20.0.1) and there are tabs from the last session with YouTube or other videos, all start playing at once and I have to pause the videos manually one by one.If I open a video from YT in another tab, this add-on doesn't work either. If I open a video in the same tab, the video just starts to play and then stops at once (I can live with that).I wonder how long it will take the various video hosting sites to understand that there are many people who don't want autoplay and/or prefer to have an option to toggle it.But at usually it looks like "usability" is a foreign concept for those muppets at YouTube. *grumbles*This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.976). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
After using it for four months, I deinstalled this addon at long last, because I'm finally sick of it.
It seriously lacks a blacklist, which means requests you block all the time show up with every new site. And that's just tedious, because you always have to remember which requests you want to deny. Because when you go through the list to allow/deny, the list is completely mixed up and you have to pick and try one by one. As of now, I'm sick of having to go through the same trial-and-error routine on every second or third site just to have the site displayed as it should be.
There are similar addons like e.g. Ghostery where you don't spend half of the time to look if the sources and targets of a request are legitimate or not. And where you don't need half of the time to have a website displayed as it should be - instead of having a bit of text on a white background.
This addon means too much work and too much inconvenience for far too less benefit. So, after wasting very much time and effort for four months, I'm done with it.
Ignore the stars, I just put them in because I have to (thyt's wha I used the same result as in my first posting):This addon seems not to be working anymore, the rating bars have gone since about a week, as far as I can remember. My first guess would be that YouTube fucked up it's interface again... *sighs*
EDIT (Feb 09, 2013): Just read the response to my post and tried again. And what do you know - it works. Flawlessly.
So I guess it could be some kind of Murphys Law again.
It might also be possible that the latest FF update did the trick. I had the issues with FF 18.0.1, but I updated to 18.0.2 on Feb 6th.
Anyways. It works again, and I like that. :-) *YAY*
Use it & love it.
But I have to agree with 1nvisibleMan below. Not being able to put the icon where I want makes this addon cumbersome.
That's why I only gave four stars. Give us users the freedom to decide where to put the icon, and it will get five.
I like this addon and think it's very useful.
But I give only four stars because it could do with a bit of improvement.
First, I'd prefer to be able to put the button where I'd like to instead of having it fixed on the addon bar.
When it comes to toolbars, I prefer to roll my own; I believe this is an intetegral part of the concept of Firefox.
Second, the URL in the info (http://lazarus.interclue.com) is wrong (or outdated) for at least four months now. I guess its time to have it changed to the right one (http://getlazarus.com).
When those two things are fixed, I see no reason not to give five stars.
This addon would be quite useful. Would. What makes it completely useless is the huge waste of space.
It uses a toolbar of its own for just three buttons which use up less than a third of said toolbar.
If I could put one or more of the buttons in my addon-toolbar, I'd continue to use it. As if this isn't possible, I don't.
Doesn't work at all because YouTube fucked up again (see description of the addon). Hence three stars which I'll revise after it works again.ATM, I've deactivated the addon until there's a working version (current v.1.0.3 doesn't).
@Anysia (see 3d post above): Agreed, but maybe the author should also write an answer to a post now and then. The remark about YT having fucked up again is not really prominent and thus prone to be missed.
I'm considering to remove this add-on because it doesn't do what it's for.
1. Stopping Autoplay does/doesn't work on a seemingly random basis When I open 3-5 YT videos in background tabs, at least one plays without being started.
2. Buffering doesn't work at all - some videos are buffered only partly, some not at all. Either way, the progress bar on YT is almost never shown.
3. Setting the video size does not work AT ALL. I want the maximized (not full screen) view as standard size, so I set it in the options for SmartVideo, but this option seems to be completely ignored. It actually never worked since I tried SmartVideo the first time (which was more than a year ago).
The last feature is actually the main reason why I installed SmartVideo in the first place. I've now deactivated the plugin at long last and will check it after the next version has been released. If maximising the video doesn't still work then, the plugin is history on my computer and will remain so.
2012/23/01: Tried again for good measure. Doesn't work. Kicked it.
I just spent two days searching for the reason why I couldn't login anymore, had troubles posting on various sites etcetera.
So I tried everything I could imagine. Since I uninstalled CsFire about half an hour ago all problems are gone.
So CsFire will be one of the add-ons I won't use again.
Works like a charm.
I changed over from the Mouse Gestures Redox addon when that was abandoned a some years ago and I didn't regret it ever since.
I'd really like to use AiOG in Thunderbird too, so I'd like to try hacking it for making it work with TB.
Anyone try that yet, and If yes, did it work?
Would it be enough to hack only the install.rdf or is it necessary to fiddle with the .jar file (I'm not much of a Java coder, so that could be a problem)?
I used to wait if this addon gets an update because I really liked it. But as it is abandonware for over two years now, I guess it's time to let it go.
And I find it a bit disturbing that there is still a button to donate. If the author doesn't care about this addon anymore and lets it rot, he should maybe have the decency to remove that.
I'm now giving this one a try: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/addon-update-checker/
...to me, it seems like this add-on is simply dead and gone. The last version if Firefox where MRTT worked without problems was FF 3.6 or 3.7, this Add-On hasn't been updated for more than a year now.
Looks like this add-on is now abandoned for good, because there's not even any update from mrtech about the status or what's going on. A real pity.
