To me, this is a must-have extension, which is why I'm still running FF 25.0.1. It boggles my mind why FF would release an update that breaks the 8th most popular add-on. There are other add-ons of the same/similar name that purport to work on FF 26, but none of them work as seamlessly as this one does/did.
Hopefully the dev will see this, if he didn't notice it already. For me, as of a couple of days, I'm having issues with youtube giving me the different options for the quality that I'd like to download. Before, based on which formats I had enabled/disabled, I'd virtually always see 480p and 360p download options (among others, unless I disabled it). Lately, regardless of the video I'm trying to download from youtube, the only choices for formats I'm getting are 720p and Medium, including on videos that I know I've downloaded in 480p format previously. Additionally, the HQ5 format keeps showing up as an option even though I have disabled it multiple times. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168-signed). Since the click-to-play behavior changed in FF 24, this add-on is so very much needed and much appreciated. I tried to get by with flashblock, but it's just not as seamless as the built-in click-to-play method. This add-on fixes that for me, without having to deal with the annoying "Allow [Example.com] to run Adobe flash?" pop-up message. Thank you! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.0.3.20130818.1-signed).
Version 4.9.14b1 works great and fixes the issues I had. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (22.214.171.124-signed). This user has other reviews of this add-on.
As of Jan 18, the youtube issues have been resolved, at least for me. Everything appears to be running normally again. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199-signed). This user has other reviews of this add-on.
Confirmed, as the two previous reviewers Dan and Kevin stated, some downloads (in particular youtube downloads) are "broken." While the files do download, the status is unknown because they do not appear in the download window (nor do they appear for me as they should using the extension "Download Statusbar"). As Dan pointed out, youtube downloads do work as they should using the extension "Download Flash and Video." Hopefully we'll only have to use a different extension temporarily until the dev can release an update with a workaround.I am experiencing this issue on Firefox Beta 19 and Firefox 18. What's strange, however, is that I did not have this problem when using Firefox Beta 18, even up until the official Firefox 18 was released. I have had some issues with userscripts breaking on youtube over the past couple days, so this may not even be an issue with Firefox/Video DownloadHelper, but rather with a change that youtube made (which seems to happen far too often). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52-signed).
