google redirect rewrite remover

Copy link location didn't work Rated 2 out of 5 stars

HTTP request rewriting seemed to work, but I still couldn't copy links in the search results, which the addon description says I can do.

Reply to developer:
* I'm using Firefox 35
* I'm in Australia (so using google.com.au)
* My understanding of what it's supposed to do is based on the description: prevent redirection (either via HTTP request rewriting or HTML URL rewriting) and enable "Copy link location" for search result links.
* If I've misunderstood the purpose of the addon, then maybe the description isn't clear.

I'm using Google Search Link Fix instead since it seems to fix both the redirection and ability to copy search result links. (Yes; I saw somewhere that this apparently degrades performance compared to the approach you seem to be taking, but it's good enough for me.)

Bluhell Firewall

Good, but doesn't block Google ads Rated 3 out of 5 stars

From my experiments, this uses much less RAM than Adblock Plus and Adblock. Consequently, browsing is faster since my phone doesn't run out of RAM as much. It also works even when Firefox is first started (doesn't work in AdBlock Plus).

However, it doesn't block ads in search engine search results, which is a pity since they're probably the ads I see the most anyway.

Thank you very much!

Force Content-Type

Didn't help Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It successfully detected and changed content-types, but not for requests initiated from a URL in the location bar.

The user interface is buggy. The extension doesn't even show in the extension list, and it can't be uninstalled via the normal process.

Adblock Plus

Great, but whitelists some ads Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This add-on is one of the main reasons I use Firefox. It does an excellent job removing ads from most websites. I have used it for years, and it is a very high quality add-on.

Unfortunately, the author has an agreement with some companies to whitelist their ads. You can find information about what's whitelisted and why by opening the filter preferences window. The author appears to have been open and transparent about this.

The author's website uses the terms "acceptable" and "non-intrusive" to describe the whitelisted advertisements. However, I think that using these terms to describe the advertisements is questionable and can be misleading.

Thankfully, you can disable these advertisements in the user preferences, but having to do this provides a poorer experience, since the plug-in basically doesn't perform its function correctly by default.

Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus

Very useful Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This makes it very easy to make custom Adblock Plus element hiding rules. Whenever you see something you don't want on a website, you can usually just quickly create a filter using this and not have to see it again.

Net Usage Item

A useful add-on Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This add-on gets Internet usage information from a customer's ISP. It supports a wide range of ISPs. It's easy to configure, non-intrusive, and it used to work well. The meter itself is easy and clear to read and work with.This add-on was quite good. Unfortunately, it now appears to be abandoned; some ISPs have been broken for a long time. Contacting the developer has yielded no response.

Geolocater

Worked correctly (v1.6 and FF11) Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I just installed it and set it up. I had to enable the Firefox menu and access the addon's options via the Tools menu rather than using the usual add-ons page. I set up a location and tested in using Google Maps, and it worked correctly. Thanks!
