Auto Private

Works fine Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Will keep it.
EDIT: thanks for simplifying rule creating. I've tested v1.5 and it works fine there.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3).

Secure Login

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The add-on is infected with "abine" mal/crapware.

Add to Search Bar

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Could you please add support of URL for suggests (when installing a new search engine from a search field)?
For example, Google, Bing, WikiPedia, IMDB and lots of other sites - they all have search suggests, but if you install a search engine for any of them with your extension - your search engine won't have the "suggests".
It would be nice, if you'd teach your add-on to hook up the search engine, when he installs a new search engine.
But sometimes the input field on a page has no suggests.
In that case it would be super awesome if your add-on would let user either type-in an URL for suggests manually or let your add-on parse the user's installed search engines, filter the ones that have suggests and let the user select any of them to use in the currently installing search engine.

p.s.: I like your add-on very much, and it's also awesome that it's now restartless, however I really miss suggestions support.

Distill Web Monitor - AlertBox

This tool has no analogues Rated 5 out of 5 stars

People who give 1-star reviews to this add-on - they are just either not smart enough or too lazy to learn how to use this add-on.
People who understand how this add-on works - they do realize that there are no analogues to this anywhere at all: neither for Firefox nor for other browsers nor as standalone programs (at least the ones I know of).
This is the only util that supports tracking _a_specific_part_of_the_selected_page_.
But to configure the alerts properly - you have to learn either xpath or css or javascript.
Without knowing any of these - you can create only the most primitive alerts, which still might be enough for your task.
Here's a small guide written by Ajit of how to use those rules in advanced way: http://pulsvu.com/node/1099#comment-1340 but it still doesn't cover all the xpath/css/js, so AlertBox'es alerts' locators could be way more advanced.

Ajit, there are only 2 tiny things which are not comfortable for me in this add-on:
1. could you add middleclicking a specific alert to trigger check of that alert?
2. even "options" of an alert don't provide a way to change the URL for the alert. I usually need this, because some alerts have the very same locators, but their target URLs are changed.

User Style Manager

Too buggy to use Rated 1 out of 5 stars

There are too many bugs in this add-on, I'd say it's still in pre-alpha stage. Negative reviews get removed for some reason.

Hello,
I've just discovered your extension and I like it. However, I have a small feature request:

Please, teach your add-on to distinguish movies from episodes of TV series and use a different search on "The Pirate Bay" for TV series: instead of searching for the title - search the episode's number (in the s02e04 format), because torrent trackers usually don't contain episodes' titles in the torrent's name.
Currently, your extension usually gives 0 results of a search for an episode, although the episode is usually present on the tracker.

MirFox

Please, don't stop the development Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Please, add support of statuses, protocols (just show an icon) and/or MetaContacts plug-in.
My current problem is that I have metacontacts, whose sub-contacts have same names (but in different networks).
Your extension shows only sub-contacts of meta- ones, and it displays them just as names: with no status and no protocol icon. So it's quite easy to send to an offline sub-contact or to the wrong protocol.

p.s.: I filed the corresponding issue to your issue tracker.

Scriptlet

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Poor description and no "settings" button in about:addons page, so I don't even know how to use this add-on.

Edit: found the proper description: http://work.erikvold.com/addons/2013/06/10/on-scriptlets.html
It doesn't work with some bookmarklets (e.g. http://www.bookmarklets.com/tools/convert/index.phtml ), it loses all the installed ones from their positions (puts them back to "customize panels view") if you disable and re-enable this add-on.
It doesn't create a sub-group "bookmarklets" in add-ons manager to manage installed bookmarklets.

MoreSearchContextMenu

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Голимая поделка, не подцепляющая установленные в браузере поисковые машины.
До появления этого дополнения уже существовали многие джетпаки (дополнения не требующие рестарта браузера при их установке и удалении), выполняющие аналогичную функцию.
Context Search RG (вроде, сейчас, сломалось;
InstantFox (дополнение-комбайн);
Yet Another Context Search;
Restartless Context Search.

Я не против велосипедострояния, но только если новый велосипед чем-то будет лучше существующих, а это дополнение - хуже существующих.

Page Portal

Nice Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Similar to InstantFox's "instant preview" feature (which is only available for search queries using search engines' keywords)

Referrer Control

Awesome! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Referrer Control is better than RefControl:
1. it's restartless
2. it supports more complex rules, since it lets create ones depending on source URL.

InstantFox Quick Search

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Tested 2.8.2, both bugs are fixed, partial compatibility with Private Tab is now granted.
Why partial? Because there's one issue - that I don't whether you left it so intntionally (and it makes sense, since that's just a matter of taste) or just didn't notice and would like to fix it (or not):
add-on Private Tab adds a Ctrl+Alt+V hotkey (and optionally a menuitem to tabs' context menu) to open a non-private tab, even in a private window (which is forbidden in Firefox by default) + allows users to drag'n'drop a non-private tab to the private window.
And your extension currently opens a private tab from a non-private one, if it is in a private window.
That's not a bug, but just a matter of personal preferences, I guess.
+ I don't use private windows, so personally I don't care about this at all.

I'm almost fully satisfied with InstantFox, however I have one feature request, that I actually requested earlier by email, but got no response.
I like a feature that appeared in IE since v.9 (and is present in v.10 too): when you type something in the address bar - a dropdown list appears with history and/or web search results, but IE9 has a small toolbar that consists of search engines' favicons, so user could quickly search for something using the selected engine.

This might be useful for some user with short memory, so they don't have to remember keywords for search engines. Or for the users that sometimes forget rarely used search engines. Or for the users that like mouse more than keyboard.
In IE - that toolbar is configurable, so users can select what search engines to put there.
I really would like to see that in InstantFox.
Anyways, thanks for your awesome extension! Finally can use it again!

I appreciate your bugfix a lot! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks that you didn't treat me like a troll or something, I'm really interested in your add-on, I just couldn't live with that bug, and now you've finally fixed it, thanks a lot!
My github name is the same as here. That's really awesome that you realize now how important to have an open issue tracker for any project, especially open one.
However, I've found a bug/regression in the version you suggested: if you type "g something" into the address bar, then hit Ctrl+A to select everything in the address bar and then hit "delete" - nothing actually happens.
Expected result is that it would erase all the text typed into the address bar.

And since now stable version of Firefox has private windows, could you take a look into that review of another extension, but that is actually related to yours?

You don't use public issue tracker Rated 5 out of 5 stars

1. Users may change their marks and they can leave multiple reviews, but only last review gets counted, so if I downvote you 100 times and then upvote once - you'll get only the upvote from me, so don't be disappointed much, that's fixable ;-)
2. This site doesn't provide a way for a user to leave a reply to developer's comment, so a developers unfairly hold users at the vantage. The site makes me leave extra reviews.
3. If you had, say, a repo on github - we'd discuss issues there, without reviews. But you don't have an issue tracker.
4. Many developers don't even read comments with 5 stars, because it basically means, that the user is contented with everything. The thing is I don't, that's why my last reviews are negative [you ignored my very first review, which had a 5-start rating, which just proves my point].
That is exactly why I asked you to create a github repo (it's not even necessary to upload your code there, you could just use it to track issues). Please, reconsider this.
And don't take any offense at me.

Now to the issue:
Are you talking about this feature?
http://storage8.static.itmages.ru/i/13/0411/h_1365680899_5037487_492c9672e2.png
I switched it off, but it didn't change anything, I still see InstantFox' injections into the dropdown list when I type-in anything into address bar:
