Works well Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Drastically reduce memory use and it'd be great--something like another browser's X-notifer (not Lite.)This review is for a previous version of the add-on (220.127.116.11-signed).
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Lots to like: simple, fast and light! Quicknote has been a workhorse over the years, so I'm naturally concerned that maintenance and development seems negligible. I've at times had to change maxversion in the rtf or go into the jar to change the icon size (24px), and there was a buggy version I downgraded (possibly current version, btw tab works great in old version with Firefox 3.6), but the tightness makes this is a keeper. Please save QN from code rot and give it new life for Firefox 4.0. Thanks!!!This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.0.5). This user has a previous review of this add-on.
External Chrome launcher Rated 2 out of 5 stars
This does not open a Chrome tab within Firefox. It simply launches Chrome with the URL of the open tab. The description page is far too lengthy. Don't waste your time. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.0).
Must Use Context Menu (Title Save) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank the person a few places before me who mentioned you must use the context menu. This belongs in the Description and/or Long Description because it explains why some people think it doesn't work. I just about uninstalled it myself after trying it out. Great extension saves unbelievable amounts of time and RAM waiting for IETab to load. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1f).
Does Not Work Yet Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I really want this addon to recover memory. Opening about a dozen IETabs (memory-heavy, like Wall Street Journal), then close them all, then run RAMBack from the toolbar icon. Comparing memory before and after, I see absolutely no improvement on XP with RAMBack 1.0. None. Reason I'm giving 3 stars is it's an early version and I really want you to figure out whatever it takes to get back the memory Firefox consumes after using IETab-for some reason that is the worst offender. Keep up the good fight!
Indispensable -- Bugfix needed Rated 4 out of 5 stars
If you use the DLSB virus scanning and AVG 8, there's a problem with DLSB not handling the '=' in the AVG 8 command line /SCAN=%1. The only fix I've found involves a short batch file to pass AVG arguments. Cheesy, but easy and effective until this bug is fixed. See forum for details:
Simply Amazing Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I've used QuickNote for years, which is very useful for retaining salient information chunks, and while I greatly appreciate the version bump and placement in AMO, I'm concerned by lack of maintenance (small things like options checkbox misbehavior and oversize toolbar icon.) The send highlighted text to quicknote feature makes it worthwhile b/c it's so efficient. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.0.4).
Awesome Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Tabscroll functionality really should be builtin to Fx. No way does any keyboard shortcut have the same feel. There simply is no equal.
Small size: check
3.0 compabible: check (per install.rdf, I'm on 2.0)
This is reportedly based on Dorando's miniT(tabscroll), which I've used for years, so even though I've just installed, I have full confidence in giving my 100% rating. Thanks!
2.5.2 Terrible along with DH Support, previously great Rated 2 out of 5 stars
Get a version prior to 2.5.2 (i.e., 2.5.1 or less). You also have to be aware of all the cookies and privacy issues, but it can be a very good addon. Unfortunately, the developer has a really awful support forum where you have to enter the total number of FAQ question to be able to submit a bug report, but no (reasonably close) number works. DH 2.5.2 totally freezes Firefox when clicking on options using Firefox 18.104.22.168, and with every DH update you have to see what nonsense the developer added in options. The developer needs to stop treating people like infants. Previously I gave this addon a 10, now I give it a 1. Average to get 5. If the developer doesn't change course I may not use it much longer. If you read between the lines of this developer's posts, you can tell he's got questionable motives, and is only holding back because people are onto him. e.g., read the posts around when he added the cookie and there another privacy issue before that, and even before then -- obviously, he's becoming more reclusive so that's going to be difficult, but I remember. A FAQ question count to submit a bug report -- are you totally mad? Even the count system doesn't work, and I input many incremental numbers on both sides of the actual count. At least there are plenty of other alternatives when I decide to switch. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.5.2).
Zoomilicious! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I think most of the mapping sites slice the maps up into smaller squares (grid style, maybe 4x3), and if instead of Google maps context menu zoom you used imagezoom (you did not have the correct setting, above), you'd be zooming only one of the squares, which would have a bad result. I vaguely recall experiencing many versions ago.
Lean and Functional Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Linky is a lean extension that improves Fx functionality tremendously. My only quip is that three places to get several different versions which all purport to be the latest is wrong. Developers used to say the addons.org was too (insert adjective), but developers can't claim that and then claim the same for their own website. Multiple versions and sizes differences in a release version do not belong. They all work great, but that's not the point. So many websites and versions is not only painful for the user, but detracts from the perceived quality. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7.1).
