As others have reported, this plugin is in need of an update. Since Firefox 7, the plugin no longer works smoothly: after the short URL is generated, the new URL is not brought into focus. Consequently, it often takes a few mouse-clicks and attempts at hitting Ctrl+C in order to get the URL copied correctly.
Every time a new version of Firefox is released, the developers crow about how resource usage is becoming more and more efficient, but all I see are more and more memory leaks. This add-on definitely makes a huge difference.
However, the developer needs to learn how to write in an understandable way. The language used both in the "Options" settings page and in the online documentation is just utterly nonsensical. It's like the author wrote the documentation, then ran every second word through the Microsoft Word thesaurus in an effort to make everything as hard to understand as possible.
To take one random example: "Finally, this method by DLL injection process into Firefox has shown great promise toward limiting or stopping this habitual memory demand." What's wrong with simply saying "this method has cut memory usage"?
And goodness knows what phrases like "an expedient time frame commitment" are supposed to mean. Complicated words are being used wrongly, making it impossible to understand what is being written. Only rarely have I ever seen such useless and meaningless documentation: sorry to be blunt, the plugin author is a truly shocking writer.
Anyway, rant over. The good thing is that the add-on appears to work out of the box. Download the plug-in, but ignore the settings and documentation: trying to understand what's going is likely to give you a massive headache.
JohnC, I hope you realise how arrogant you sound. Developers can't just wave a magic wand and suddenly bring about support for the latest version. If anything, reading your irate emails would only slow him/her down.
I've always found this a useful plugin, so hopefully we'll see 5.0 support coming in the not-too-distant future.
An excellent theme. Simple but effective. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7.5).
It's an okay theme, but a bit garish. The dialog boxes - which I suspect came from other themes - are excellent. However, the actual interface for everyday browsing isn't so crash hot and don't fit in with the dialog boxes at all. The buttons seem a bit odd and it's a bit hard to read stuff. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1).
A really nice theme. I tend to switch between themes fairly often - depending how I feel, often - and I suspect that this is going to become my preferred "light" skin. It's clean, simple and lives up to its name of having a "cool" appearance. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2.4).
This is an outstanding theme, and there has clearly been a significant investment of time and effort. There are only a couple of tiny niggles:
(1) the new tab button on the tab bar isn't visible until hovered over.
(2) When you hover over the "x" button on the end of the tab bar (I have my "x" button set to the end of the tab bar, with none on the tabs themselves), it disturbs the tabs - they move slightly to the left to accommodate the hovered "x".
But these are only tiny gripes: it really is a top-notch job.
