Quick Maps

Obscures the Text Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I agree with some others -- the Quick Maps balloon (not the map itself) obscures the text in the underlying web page.

Dormancy

Maybe Memory Fox Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Just found Memory Fox addon. Seems to be well received. May be a better approach to the purpose of Dormancy.

Not Perfect But Very Useful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I've done a detailed writeup. See http://raywoodcockslatest.blogspot.com/2011/03/thunderbird-for-windows-transition-from.html

Snap Links

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on. Thanks!

Suggestion:

On a webpage, I'm looking at this list of things I would like to investigate:

# Little Missouri National Grassland *
# Theodore Roosevelt National Park**
# Lewis and Clark Trail* (state highways 1804 and 1806)
# Pembina Gorge/Walhalla Area*
# Turtle Mountains/Lake Metigoshe*
# Sheyenne National Grassland*

I'd like to draw my box around them all, and have each open in a separate Google search tab.

Cheers!

I've used this add-on for a long time. I don't think it has introduced incompatibilities into my system. Without it, after a new Firefox installation, I'm finding that PDFs that open automatically in tabs seem to impair system functioning. So I'm back to using this add-on again. I think it's probably better than being without it.

FEBE

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It stopped working. It repeatedly hung up when it was trying to make a backup, and it hung up when I needed it to do a restore. Had to restore a boatload of extensions and hundreds of settings by hand. Time to try MozBackup!

URL Lister

I only use this once in a while, but that's OK; it's useful when I need it. No conflicts; just does its job.

Better YouTube

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Installs Flowplayer. Flow Player causes problems in viewing some videos. See e.g., http://flowplayer.org/forum/8/13262

Map+

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

No problem with this add-on in WinXP or in previous Linux installation. But Map+ 1.2 on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) in Firefox 3.0.6 screws up my Firefox Tools menu and some of my favorite add-ons, including Tab Mix Plus and Session Manager.

Bookmark Duplicate Detector

Not Ready for Prime Time Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I wanted to save all open tabs in a folder. I selected that option from my Firefox menu. This program, which I had just installed, detected that some of the tabs were duplicates of previously saved tabs. They were not. I had saved these tabs in another folder previously, but I had then deleted that folder. The program thus proceeded to ask whether I wanted to save each of the tabs that I now had open. I had about 50 tabs open. So I had to click 50 times, once for each tab, to confirm or deny that I wanted to save a duplicate. There was no way out. Moreover, the dialog boxes asking for this confirmation were of irregular size, so I had to mouse back and forth to each one. Some were too long to fit onto the screen, so I had to manually expand them to the right to find the Cancel button (which I hope was the one that had the effect I wanted). I did not understand exactly what was happening at first, so I had to go through all this a second time before I realized that I had to disable or uninstall the program (there were no relevant Preference options) to stop this behavior.s
