My Reviews

RedirectCleaner

No documentation, buggy Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It works, but with issues: There's no documentation explaining whitelists/blacklists, and in any case they don't seem to work. There's also a bug where having a whitelist/blacklist stops clicking the toolbar button from actually disabling the add-on for a page.

Gallery Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works.

No more Facebook redirect

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Does what it says.

Turn Off the Lights

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A great improvement for watching video. Professionally done.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.3.0.5.1-signed).

Send Tab URLs

OK... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Multiple Tab Handler is superior (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/multiple-tab-handler/)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1-signed).

Cookies Manager+

Useful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Useful but be careful not to use Cookies Manager+ to delete all your cookies - it's extremely slow (100% CPU for several minutes before I gave up) - whereas Firefox's built-in function is instant.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.1.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

StretchClock Break Reminder - Desk Yoga

Takes up a lot of room Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It would be great except for the fact that it takes up a lot of room in the add-ons bar and can't be moved.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.1-signed).

FormFox

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Doesn't work on all forms, but sometimes is better than never.

SSLGuard

Too difficult Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Am I right in thinking this is only useful for people who don't notice that they're not on an HTTPS page?

Seems this isn't quite ready yet, given the things it breaks, or worth the added complexity...

CryptoFox

Bad UI Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The crappy UI means I'd stick with the less-featured Fire Encrypter (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fire-encrypter/). A toolbar isn't an appropriate interface (especially as the only interface) for a tool that isn't in constant use - besides which the text input/output box should be more than one line high.

Master Password+

Nice Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Does stuff that should be built in to Firefox. However doesn't hide the titlebar if you're using an add-on that changes it (eg. Customize Titlebar https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/customize-titlebar/)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.16.1.1-signed).

KeePass Helper

Good but there is better Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Customize Titlebar has more options https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/customize-titlebar/

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.0.1-signed).

Search Engine Security

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

For better privacy, block all referrers with Redirect Remover https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/redirect-remover/

JS Switch

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Use NoScript instead, it's much better for privacy and security

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.9.1-signed).

Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out (TACO)

Good for newbies Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Good for newbies who want a simple privacy upgrade. For real effectiveness you need more advanced addons. I recommend Beef Taco https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/beef-taco-targeted-advertising/ along with NoScript and others https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/gracefool/privacy/

The website http://www.abine.com/preview/taco.php is misleading: Flash cookies are deleted along with other cookies since Firefox 4, so you don't need that feature, and as long as you allow Javascript on the page, you can be tracked and cookies can be re-created http://gracefool.com/how-you-have-no-real-privacy-on-the-internet

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.44).

Beef Taco (Targeted Advertising Cookie Opt-Out)

Simple and good Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Has worked for me under every version of Firefox with WinXP. And Firefox doesn't delete the cookies (despite the 27 Sep review).

You can force add-on compatibility by adding a new boolean preference in about:config "extensions.checkCompatibility.9.0" and setting it to false (Where "9.0" is your major Firefox version, put a "b" on the end if you're using a beta).

IDND

Nice Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great extension, should be built-in. As of Firefox 9.0.1 (which it *does* work with), the icon can be moved around, so you can put it next to the address-bar.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.3.1-signed).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

IDND

Needs update Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Good addition that does what it says, but should be updated to use the new-style statusbar icon so it can be moved around.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.1.1-signed).

HeaderControl

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks heaps Torvin, that works! I suggest that if you still dont have a reply in a month or two, upload it as a new add-on eg. HeaderControl 2 / HeaderControl fixed.

New Tab Homepage

worse than normal behaviour Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Normally when you make a new tab you can immediately start typing into the address bar. Unfortunately, with this add-on you have to press Ctrl-A then Delete to remove the current contents before you can search / type an address :(
