My Reviews

Focus Mode

Excellent - but ... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Would be nice to have options to show the Location Bar or the Tab Strip.

Drumpfinator Trump = Drumpf

Thank You! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Old search

This extension doesn't work in Firefox 46! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

UI is there, but neither the Enter key or the Search icon works. And why was my review of 04-30 removed?

Edit Bookmark Plus

Resize grip on the left? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Why is the resize "grip" on the left? Nonsensical IMO! The typical location is the lower right corner of a window or panel in Firefox. Why change it from where user expect to see it?

Extension List Dumper

I have been using InfoLister for many years .... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

With the "door hanger" display the Print button goes directly to the "native print dialog" box, no way to change the "Scale" via Page Setup or Print Preview (unless that already set for something else that was printed and wasn't reset to the default). Base font is just too large, IMO. My first print out was 4 pages long and all I added was Install Date

All types of Add-ons are lumped together, and the whole list is alphabetized. Extensions are intermixed with Appearance (Themes) and with Plugins, along with User Styles, and possibly GreaseMonkey scripts and "Social". It is possible to do a single Type output, like Extensions only but no "Type" listed for UserSyles or other then the "main" 4 Types. No way to include the Profile name, for users who are running multiple Profiles. for whatever reason.

Overall, a good start but not as friendly as the old InfoLister that many long time Firefox users have been using for over 9 years. ALD or ELD pales by comparison for power users who may have 50+ extensions, a lightweight theme or two and a few dozen UserStyles, along with some GM scripts.

Download Status Bar

Fine extension! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works as advertised, on both 26.0 and Nightly 29.0a1. Has 2 separate Contextual Menus, one to the left over "Downloads" (Close Bar and Clear All Downloads) and the other over the "progress meter".

Clearly this extension deserves better than the 2 star and 1 star ratings given in the two previous reviews.

Print Hint

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have used this extension since Firefox 1.0 or tried to use it after Firefox 2.0. In every version since Firefox 3.0 something hasn't worked correctly. Now the Print Preview option doesn't work for the Print button.

Adblock Plus

Excellent update to an excellent addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am very satisfied with the new feature to allow ads which meet acceptable parameters. Web masters should no longer have a reason to block users from their web sites just because a Firefox user uses Adblock Plus.

I find it sad that some Firefox users aren't smart enough to figure out how to turn off "acceptable ads" and still be able to block all ads. I guess that reading the manual is too hard for some users.

Compatibility Detector for Firefox

Usage instructions are lacking Rated 3 out of 5 stars

For English you need to create the mentioned preference as a "string" pref. Also, the toolbar button is automatically placed on the Add-on Bar (ain't gonna see it if the Add-on Bar is hidden), not placed in the Palette as I would have expected. "About this Add-on" comments on the /en-US/ addons website should be in English.

Menu Editor

Was a favorite extension for many years, but now?? Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Menu Editor has been dying a bit at a time for over 3 years now, and is a shadow of its former self. As of Firefox 3.0, the Bookmarks and History Menus - "Not yet implemented", with Firefox 4.0 the App Menu is not supported, and with Firefox 6.0 the Web Developer sub-menu in the App Menu isn't implemented.

Disable Private Browsing

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Impressive progress in just 7 days. Come version 1.5, this extension will be about as perfect as can be expected - given that your kids don't know how to access the SafeMode, which can't be blamed on a shortcoming with this add-on.

Forecastfox Weather

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This extension seems to work properly, but there are no instructions about how to set it up and be able to start using it, that I was able to locate. The screenshots appear to be from Firefox 3.6 or earlier, and how many Firefox users are using a Mac.

If you need help getting started with this add-on, see this support forum posting -

Disable Private Browsing

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Firefox 5.0 - the orange Firefox button menu shows "Start Private Browsing" and then "Stop Private Browsing" when the button is purple - PB isn't disabled. Yes, the Tools menu items are hidden, the keyboard shortcut is disabled, and the extension doesn't appear in the installed extensions list - except in the SafeMode.

AllowClipboard Helper

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank you for updating this extension for Firefox 3.0, 3.5, and 3.6 versions of Firefox. It greatly simplifies setting up Clipboard permissions.

bookmarks history panel

different Toolbar icon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Love this extension, it does what I need it to do.

It really needs a different Toolbar icon than the standard "Display your bookmarks" icon, and a different 'tooltip' wording. Too easy to confuse this icon with the standard one - yes, I have both on a Toolbar and I really use both "views", separate times of course.

A colored border for the image would do, or a different color image.

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I am gonna be blunt - 2 stars was a gift:
1. The bookmarks supplied with this extension shove the existing bookmarks to never-never land. I don't need your bookmarks added to mine, and then waste my time deleting your bookmarks!
2. Use of the Statusbar for controls for this extension is just plain wrong. This extension occupies approx 60% of a 1024px width Statusbar. A separate, conventional, optional Toolbar is a must. I do have icons for other extensions on the Statusbar, right now I can't see any URLs in the Statusbar - so the original purpose of the Statusbar is reduced to three dots.
3. The overall concept is brilliant, but IMO the execution is very poor. Back to the drawing board.
4. Didn't even use Firefox once I installed this extension to test for problems with other extensions as mentioned. This profile is going to the Recycle Bin after I test how cleanly it un-installs.

Unsorted Bookmarks Folder Menu

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent addon! This feature should have been included in the basic Firefox build, users shouldn't need to add this feature.

Locationbar Limit

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Excellent extension! And it is named properly - the url Bar is formally known as the Location bar, in Mozilla-speak.

Bookmark Bar Toggler

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Button way too large, especially when using small icons. Otherwise an excellent extension.

Full Web Page Screenshots (♥♥♥♥♥)

Works great, but Rated 4 out of 5 stars

What were you thinking with two Menu-items and wordiness in the Context Menu items?
How about a sub-Context menu (like many other extensions have), with only "Screenshot" in the main Context Menu?
