Convenient extension. Only problem is, at least in the FF3 RC's, Ctrl+ doesn't work as it should. I'm hoping this gets fixed for the final release of FF3.

Re:

This is fixed in the new release, which is waiting approval. Firefox 3 is not released yet.

One added control would be nice: I would like to be able to tell Speed Dial when NOT to open in a new tab. I have unchecked every place I can find "new tab" in the prefs, to no avail. Fast Dial does not open a new tab, but it lacks the multiple tab display feature, which is nice for categorizing bookmarks.

Re:

Just add a bookmark to "chrome://speeddial/content".

Great Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a really great add-on.
The only problems I have with it it that for some reason Firefox's default shortcuts (ctrl+1-9) aren't replaced in version RC1. In the Linux version, it works fine, since it uses alt+1-9 for tab selecting.
Also, in the Linux version, the address bar isn't selected right after you make a new tab, so you have to select or delete all the text in the address bar to go somewhere else.

Still, great add-on and very useful!

Re: Great

This is solved in the new release, which is awaiting review by the AMO editors. Firefox 3 was still in development, so the new changes broke some features.

Confused Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'm an Opera-to-Firefox convert, so the first thing I did was download this add-on. I restarted Firefox and everything but now I can't seem to make it work. The website says go to "Extension settings" or something but I can't for the life of me figure out what that is.

Re: Confused

You should have been presented a "First Time Configuration" dialog...

To configure it afterward, go to the add-ons panel ("Tools > Add-ons"), and select Speed Dial in the list. Then click the "Options..." button in it.

The Short Key... Alt+D highlights the text in the Address bar, anything you type after that replaces it

URL bar not empty Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Finally another great step from opera to firefox ! That add-on is great.

Now I have a question though : what I'm used to when I want to do a (google)search is just :
1) hit Ctrl+t (which shows me the blank tab with speed dial in it, which is great)
2) type "g my_string_to_search" and hit "enter"

and voila !...except I can't do that anymore with speed dial as there is already something in the URL : "chrome://speeddial/content/speeddial.xul".
My question is : Is there a way to clear the URL bar when creating a new tab/window ?

Thank you anyway for this great add-on !

I love this add on. It would be nice to be able to rearrange the tabs.

I can't get enough of SpeedDial. Teamed with the Morning Coffee extension, it makes getting my internet-based work done that much faster.

As someone who finds alphabetization a timesaver in searching for stuff (libraries are my favorite haunts!), I think it would be over-the-top cool if the end-user could tick a box that says "automatically arrange links in alphabetical order once inside a group page."

every time firefox crashes i lose all my speed dials/icons , so i wont be using a unstable software but was good while it lasted.. frustrated there's no way to back them up

Re:

Yes, there's a way to back them up. In the Speed Dial settings panel, click on the lower-left button called "Settings", and you can export them.

Also, this doesn't happen when Firefox crashes, but when you loose all your preferences...

This was probably the only feature from Internet Explorer I really missed since switching to Firefox...and now your sweet little add-on is doing the job even better!

Very nice work. I love this add-on. Only issue I have is the regular click actions for New Tab and New Background Tab are backwards.

Great add-on.

I setup mine with 18 thumbnails and it takes FOREVER to refresh them all if I change a thumbnail option (e.g. PNG to JPEG).

Is there anyway to speed that up considerably in the next version. By the way, that will be when?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.7.0.8).

Re:

The problem with that option is that it requires all the thumbnails to be refreshed, but you can just open Speed Dial, right click and choose "Refresh all"...

Great idea, but....... Rated 3 out of 5 stars

A great utility; but why oh why does it reset itself, thus losing me all my tabs, whenever Firefox updates???
