After adding the extension to Waterfox 56.0.1 on FreeBSD-CURRENT, I see pause buttons in the sidebar of Vertical Tabs Reloaded, but the buttons seem to be ineffective.

I guess that the compatibility information is wrong at addons.mozilla.org

@ Matteo
The nevercrash app comes with some "optional" smartbear toolbar thats why I guess they didn't allow them on Mozilla Addons.

The SaveMemory successor Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The SaveMemory successor is named NeverCrash and you can find it here:

I just can't understand why they didn't update/add it here on Mozilla Addons yet...

Two fans thank you. My laptop's for an extended life and myself for the Sound of Silence ;-)
Two suggestions then ...
1) Pause/Resume Window (all tabs within) for those who organize them by subject
(Maybe Shift+Pause Shift+Resume to avoid invading the menu space)
2) A third status in addition to Paused/Resumed : Automatic.
It means that the tab
- is like resumed when it "gets focus" (starts displaying (even partially is best, if possible))
- is like paused when it looses focus (gets hidden)
At first sight, everybody should prefer Automatic unless they want to listen to muffled background music or use transparent windows to watch the video that's behind.
Seriously, it's a rare thing but there can be a process "running" in a background window or a window can "underlap" waiting for something to be dropped on the visible part.
The best of course would be to just prevent the tabs receiving CPU slices unless they have to refresh the display. That would make the display visible immediately. If no CPU is allowed, the memory is not accessed and the real memory is paged out to be used by other processes.
A >3.7a4pre version is a great idea too !!! In the name of 2,635 users, "yes please".
Encore merci.

Hai, do you have for 4.x version?

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This is a good idea to pause non-active tabs because when one cannot look at several tabs at the same time. It would be nice to add support for the latest version of firefox. Additionally, it would be nice to have an option allowing pausing non-active tabs automatically after they are loaded.

WAS good. But not anymore. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I loved this add-on, but last time after upgrading my Firefox and restart, I Cannot get my "Paused Pages" Back anymore!!! They all became blank.
It doesn't support new Firefox after 3.x, and provide no way to rescue my lost Paused pages.

This is a great addon however it has been stopped developing. Anyone knows any alternative ?

I found two bugs:

* SaveMemory doesn't let AdBlock Plus to open the "Open Blockable items" window at times (If not all the time)

* Disabling SaveMemory with Tabs still paused and then restarting will leave them in blank on the next session. This is a small bug because people can hit the "Back" button to restore the pages.

great idea with bad realization.
1. no way to contact developer
2. no way to say "Never stop this tab/site"
3. now all your tabs have the same icons :(

I'd be glad if this troubles would be fixed

Great add-on, but would be better if it didn't disappear after Firefox has been opened for a while. USUALLY when I reopen Firefox, it'll be back, but not always. I see this is happening to many other people as well, so PLEASE fix!!!

Firefox 4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease pleeeeeeeeeeease can you update for 4.
This is my favourite addon. I don't even care if you charge for it. I love it. I have like 60 tabs open usually with little cpu and memory used. Please fix this.

Works automatically after installing but after that, I need to use the File Menu to get it to work at all. The hovering feature is gone after the first use. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. There doesn't seem to be a support address either so I am posting this as a last ditch effort. :-) Thanks, the extension does seem useful.

Would love to have this working on FIrefox 4. This and active stop button help keep CPU/Memory usage at a minimum.

I love this program, but i have a feature request. Can you add a button so that I can tell it NOT to pause certain tab/tabs? Thanks.

Couple suggestions Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I love the idea of this addon. However, one thing I would absolutely love to see is that when a tab is paused, to have a thumbnail of the screen as it was when it was paused inside of that window. Pausing it is a good idea, but if I'm going to look at old tabs, being able to see at least some of the page as it was before I paused it would help immensely when deciding if I should un-pause and reload the page... Even just showing the text of the page or some of the text on the page would make all the difference.

As it sits right now, the ONLY way we have to verify what was in the page is the title of the tab. It even clears out the "address" box so I can't look at what the active address of that tab was when I paused it...

But it's a great start to what could be a great addon...

Update: a bit buggy... Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I just realized, that some of my tabs are gone. The reason:
When I press Ctrl+T, it opens a new tab. However, when I click on the icon of Google Reader Watcher, it brings up google reader as it used to do, but it does this in a paused tab!! And when I close this tab, the previous content is gone... :(
