The long outstanding problem with recurring tasks not working properly means this potentially useful add-on is not useful to me.

I spent ages transferring items from my Lotus Organizer to it only to find I have to go back.

When recurring items can be marked complete with future occurrences left incomplete, then this add-on will be useful. But not before.

I just downloaded Lightning, it came through as a file platform 5.htm. I followed the instructions and opened add-ons in thunderbird, found the file and installed it, but as far as I can tell, nothing has happened. How do I get access to the calendar? And there doesn't seem to be anyone to go to for help

gute Aufmachung, aber extrem schlechte Performance bei langfristig sich wiederholenden Terminen (wöchentliche Wiederholung 10 Jahre lang war zu viel des guten) - dringender Verbesserungsbedarf!

Good, but if I snooze notify message and THEN move event to next day, notify message still appears TODAY.... strange.

My system is an HP laptop (dv 1000 series) runiing XP sp3. My calendar needs are fairly simple even within my business; ie: I don't send invitations, detail attendees, etc. This has worked without a hitch for me and is better overall than other freeware I've looked at especially as I have it available within the the Thunderbird email program. Also, by using the Provider for Google Calendar add-on, I am able to stay synced between my laptop and cellphone (Motorola Q9c) on calendar events.

I use Lightning 0.9 and find it very good except that it needs holidays added to it

Live Mail v. Lightning Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Pas encore essayé à cause de mon OS Vista qui m'a fait préféré Live Mail pour afficher uniquement mes iCal ou autres.
Cet add-on doit être de la qualité de Thunderbird.

THE ultimate add-on to have. Get it.

This should really be part of Thunderbird.

Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 on Mac Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I have used Lightning with Thunderbird for a few years and loved it. Unfortunately my Thunderbird wouldn't open after Mac update last week so I had to uninstall and reinstall it. Now when I try to add Lightning I get so many error messages I have to shut it down. Ran the sudo apt-get install libstdc++5 command before installing with same results. Guess I'll have to go back to Apple calendar.

Fix for Firefox, Ubuntu users Rated 4 out of 5 stars

There is *NOT* an incompatibility problem with Firefox 3.0.6. You're installing it wrong. .xpi files are used for both Firefox and Thunderbird. This is a *Thunderbird* add-on, not Firefox, so save the .xpi file somewhere on your hard drive (don't install it into Firefox), and then install it from Thunderbird's Tools->Add-on menu item.

But *before* you actually install, type the following on the command line:

sudo apt-get install libstdc++5
The calendar won't work if you don't have this package installed. If you already installed the plug-in, you'll have to uninstall and reinstall after you typed the above command.

I hope this helps.

Doesn't work at all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I am using Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 under Ubuntu 8.04 and I downloaded Lightning 0.9 for Linux and it doesn't work at all. There isn't one feature in it that works. Nothing works when you click on any of the buttons like the monthly, weekly buttons. Nothing works. I think the developers need to put a little more time in working out the bugs.

Lightning 0.9 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0.6.

I have only been using Lightning for about a week, and I think that it is great. I need a calendar to keep track of everything and I didn't want another program running. I always have Thunderbird on and this way the calendar is too. Thanks for a great add-on. I love it!

For those having problems, uninstall it and install the package lightning-extension (sudo apt-get install lightning-extension) instead. It's the same Lightning, but for some reason, the package works better.

Doesn't seem to be working properly on Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 (installed on Linux Kububtu 8.04): I can't create a new calendar, several buttons are not working, I can't see the days of the week. Help!
