Ghostery gave up the ghost?! - Workaround Rated 1 out of 5 stars

@"Intermediate" on July 27, 2017 - had the same issue with v7.2.3 on FF 48.0.2 after Ghostery self updated. I rolled back to v7.2.2 and Ghostery is working again. I have also disabled auto-update for now...

Speed problems? Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Of late, starting Firefox takes over 20 seconds (used to be 1 second). I found out that switching the Ghostery add-on off resolves this problem. Hopefully, this will be fixed, otherwise this add-on will remain inactive on all my firefox installs.

Windows 7 Professional, SP1
Firefox 56.0b1
Addblock Plus
Addblock Plus Pop-up Addon
Bluhell Firewall
GreaseMonkey
Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on

Switching the other add-ons off does not help.
Hope you can find the problem!

Ghost 7.3.1 slowing down FireFox 54.0 (32-bit) Ubuntu 16.04 Rated 1 out of 5 stars

For years a great fan but since recent update to 7.3.1 , each time entering a page/refresh, FF consumes 100% for a couple of seconds.

The blog at ghostery https://www.ghostery.com/blog/product-releases/ghostery-v7-3-1-hottest-jam-summer/ says: "Ghostery v7.3.1 is the hottest Jam of the Summer!" , and indeed since this update I 'm entering a traffic-jam......

Ghostery gave up the ghost?! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

What happened? Longtime fan here. Ghostery used to be a 5-star add-on. But as of July 26, 2017, same date of your latest update btw, Ghostery abruptly quit working for me on Mac OSX 10.6.8 + Firefox 48.0.2. What happened was I had toggled Ghostery off, (via its PAUSE button), as required to read comments on a certain news website. But after that session, it just refused to toggle back on, as it's done fine in the past. Instead, menu bar icon stays black. And shows/does no actions. I tried deleting and reinstalling v 7.3.1. I rebooted my entire system too. But to no avail. Please fix it? Or advise of solution (if any?).

Sorry for the inconvenience

We have a hotfix scheduled for release in the next day or two. In the meantime, you can downgrade to version 7.2.2 here:

Causes huge Firefox slow down Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I'm on an Intel Core i7 4790 with 16GB of RAM, so resources shouldn't be an issue. Each time I click the Ghostery button to do anything with it, it causes massive hanging within Firefox - this is for signing in, for clicking 'trust site'. CPU usage increases from around 3% to 14-16% and makes Firefox unusable for almost 20 seconds. On the verge of uninstalling this. It's not a new problem, but to memory I'm quite certain it's been a problem for most of this year, if not before (I've just finally gotten fedup of it lol).

Evolved in to a thread consuming peace of garbage Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It used to be a decent add-on, but it seemed to be evolved to a peace of shit.
FF gets slow, and with every update the crap wizard to skip freezes the browser

Verlangsamt alles nur noch mehr Rated 1 out of 5 stars

"Langsames Internet nervt? - Probier doch mal Ghostery" Von wegen!
Auf unzähligen Seiten friert firefox erst mal für ~5 Sekunden ein bevor sich irgendetwas tut. So ist es noch langsamer als mit den Trackern...

5 Stars Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The reason I am giving 5 stars is that with Ghostery you don't have to figure out which things you need to allow in order for media to play. All the work is done for you. Great job guys!

Started recently causing severe slowdowns when I had many tabs open. Renders this add-on unusable.

Is this really the problem? I have loved Ghostery! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

If the other recent reviews are true, I've finally figured out what has been making my browser SOooooo sluggish...
It's just recently, and it may have coincided with the updated Ghostery plugin as suggested by others.
I paused Ghostery, and the browser was much more responsive again.
Dang!
Please Ghostery, fix this quickly -
we need you!

From best at worst! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

So long ago (the previous version) ghostery was one of the best addons present. But then it turned into a slow and nasty troll that slowed down the fire fox so much that it would bounce it. Will our favorite ghost get back to us and make the fox go fast again? We will know in the next versions ...

Cuases significant slowdowns and lock ups on my system Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Immediately after installing this plugin I noticed a significant slowdown when using my browser and also had frequent lockups. I decided to stop using it. Instead I'm using 3rd party plugins for uBlock Origin. I know this plugin probably has extra features, compared to that, but it's not usable in my opinion. I have a very modern system as well, so I'm really not sure how anyone uses this.

Working but too heavy on the hardware Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I'm using high-end PC but still Firefox is much slower when running with this addon. Have to look for alternative.

Very slow! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Firefox is very very slow now, after some recent udpate. Looking for alternatives I found out it is not open-source either, so you have no idea what they are doing with your data. Switched to open-source one (https://prism-break.org/en/subcategories/gnu-linux-web-browser-addons/)
